- a memory that may or may not have happened.
The memory was so vague, something so minor that most people probably would’ve forgotten about it over the years, but it still stuck there in his mind. Mostly because he could never really tell if it was a real memory, or nothing more than a dream. A fragment of his imagination.
It was his Aunt’s wedding. A grand occasion, since she was an already well-off woman marrying a rich lawyer. He’d gone only because his parents had gotten him a new suit for it (not that he could’ve said no anyway).
At the reception, as he was taking advantage of the open bar, a young woman came up to him. She was beautiful, with smooth black hair and amber eyes. Even though she spoke quietly, she had a strong presence. Everything about her drew him in.
But she vanished oh, so quickly. He never asked for her name, or what her Scroll number was. The only thing she asked him was if he knew when dinner was being served. It was such a vague memory, such an easy one to misinterpret.
But one question came to his mind, as he spoke to the woman who’d hired him about her latest plan for him; was that girl from all those years ago Cinder Fall?
