HP Rec Fest: Day 21
Today's prompt from @hprecfest: A thought-provoking fic
Fic: What You Think Is Right
Author: @icepower55
Pairing: Hermione Granger/Draco Malfoy
Rating: M
Why I rec this: As with any icepower fic, the prose is gorgeous and the story might wreak havoc on your emotions. I remember following this as a WIP, each installment more heartbreaking than the last. It's a beautiful fic on grief, but also how grief can shape you as a spouse, a friend, a person. How it can consume you and make you feel alone. The experience of being a caretaker for ill parents, of having complex medical decisions thrust upon you and dealing with the fallout. And then how all of this bleeds into communication challenges within a marriage 🥺.

Hiiiii. Can you please recommend some completed Dramione fanfics on AO3 for me?
Hi! Sure, I'll probably make a master list of my favourites at some point. My bookmarks on AO3 include stories I've loved so dearly I can't bear to lose them.
But here are a few recent reads that I think could use more love (I read almost exclusively short stories and one shots, if you're looking for longer fics there are a few in my bookmarks):
Variations on Intimacy by @icepower55 | 2nd POV, Muggle AU, real and raw
The Watergaw by @smokybaltic, art by @ectoheart | angsty, war fic, slow burn, beautifully written
Meet Me Halfway by OneAristoCat | no Voldemort AU, Draco's an ass but has it bad for Hermione (I'm a sucker for a mean Draco), sizzling smut
Oblivious to the Rose by @dirty-mudblood | this one's rightfully popular but I love it so much I had to include it, possibly my favourite one shot ever. Jealous Hermione (like really, really jealous), well written, fluffy af!
Happy reading! 🖤
Sometimes, out of the blue, I think of this heart-achingly beautiful story and I feel like I’m out of breath for how devastating and wonderful it is. Truly a masterpiece.
@icepower55 is magnificent; one of the best authors we have in this fandom. Her writing is so vivid and emotive; it’s like a rollercoaster. I’d really recommend that you check it out.
Please read this wonderful story — and mind the tags before you do! It’s truly spectacular and I don’t think it gets enough love and support.
Read it here!
P.S. it’s almost at 1000 kudos on Ao3 so… hit that kudos button please! 💕
What are the odds I can entice you into a fest? No take backs.
when i tell you i was so confused to find an ask from you xD
as previously discussed: i am 100% into a fest with you so long as its a chaos fest where you assign me whatever terrible thing you want me to write and i have to write it, no take backs. these are my terms.
HP Rec Fest: Day 6
Today's prompt from @hprecfest: An unreliable narrator fic
Fic: Saints and Sinners
Author: @icepower55
Pairing: Draco/Hermione
Rating: E
Why I rec this: First, mind those tags, folks. Ok, if you want your heart broken, this is the fic for you. Icepower always excels at tearing my emotions to shreds with their work, and this Draco is particularly unhinged. Gorgeous prose and gutwrenching angst abound in this story.
It’s dark when the cab pulls up to the house. The windows are closed, the blinds pulled down. I’ve never noticed before, but our home looks fairly haunted at night, a faint suggestion of eeriness discernable in the worn shingles and chipping paint. Draco isn’t here right now. I look at my mobile, a force of habit. There are no red notifications alerting me to a message, but I click on the application anyways. Sometimes I think that’s the worst part, not the disappointment of being wrong, but the humiliation of wanting something enough to suspend disbelief.
For a moment, I stay molded to the car seat, phone in my hand.
“We’re here,” the driver says. He clears his throat when I don’t answer. “Six Acorn Drive.”
