I’m having the best time in Slovakia carving a giant ice church designed by Adam Bakoš, working with so many tremendous artists! I’m blown away by this project. Carrying on with more ice experiments. After writing on the ice I found outside, I got more inspiration for the text/ice combination. I wrote out ‘The stones hold secrets’ using wire. I lay it in an old plastic tub with water to freeze overnight. I had planned to leave it outside to freeze but unfortunately the cold spell had passed so I had to make-do with popping it in the freezer. 

It froze really well. I brought it down to the beach to take pictures, as that’s where the inspiration came from. The ‘secrets’ didn’t show up very well, as it wasn’t placed facing straight down in the water- however, I kind of like how there’s a mystery to the word. Very apt. I’d like to work more on this, perhaps connecting some string to the wire, so I could hang the words. I’d like to catch the morning sun come up and capture a video of the ice melting and dripping down.
