good morning Admiral One of the first Red Admiral's of the year. We saw several in one day, April 18th. Crazy they can handle the cold temps of Spring...and good thing the giant butterbur likes the cold ground too. Nature is cool

flying high This plane was cool to watch as it crossed my view....it was high enough that it was silent, and the contrails swirled like it was flying through liquid.   planes are cool

Red-headed wood chipper The pileated woodpeckers have been busy in the woods the past month. I mainly hear them but occasionally they come close for a visit and picture or two. This one hung out for a bit, really checking out the bluejay tree from last year. I love seeing them, they are like flying pre-historic birds with a bright red head....really cool to see and hear!! Nature is cool

Happy Friday!  Stay warm out there folks, it's a cold one....started out at -12F here.  It's not bad from this side of the window....

Nature is cool.....and it is really cool today!

Waiting.....This one was waiting, kinda patiently, for its turn at a feeder.  Ever now and then it would lean down and give "the look" to someone else to move on.  I love the color on these....looks really good with all the fresh snow!Nature is cool!

Breakfast -- it is the most important meal of the day! I'm hoping this is one of the bluejays from last year...I think there were 2 pairs yesterday that stopped in for a few peanuts.   Nature is cool

Curiosity I think this one was just as curious about me as I was about him/her! Pretty sure they were jealous I had a camera and able to take 100's of blurry bird pics...

Ma & Pa hanging out on the front porch yesterday.  We started the day out at -19F degrees, and a crazy cold wind chill, but this couple didn't mind the temps at all.  We saw 2 different eagle pairs sitting together yesterday, and a single one flew right over the house....not a bad day for nature sightings!

Good morning Yesterday we had several new visitors to the yard. We think this is a Common Redpoll. There were quite a few around most of the afternoon.....really cool looking bird, don't remember seeing them before but glad they are here now. Nature is cool
