My first permanent WOF character was actually an IceWing!! I’ll think about her laaaaaater

Frostscales design below the cut

- IceWings are hefty but slim. I imagine them being on the larger side of the tribes, maybe around SandWing height. While not as streamlined as SkyWings, they’re still rather trimmed.

- SPIIIIIIIIKY! Like literally everywhere! The longer the spines, the more attractive or wealthy they’re considered. Shorter spines are usually the result of malnourishment. The forearm scutes are hard to design with for me, so I just pointed them the. Other way. Lol.

- Tough scales but extremely soft and leathery underbellies. Idk why, they’re just sorta like that. Personally, I don’t draw my IceWings with fur, as they can survive without it just fine. I don’t know if it’s confirmed whether or not the dragons are cold or warm blooded, but IceWings have the best resistance to the chill of their home. For obvious reasons. But yeah no fuzz, just not my thing.

- Since wings are technically limbs, I let them keep the serration they have on their claws too! Not too much else to say about these guys, they’re just kinda… guys.

We all love frostscales soooooooooo yeah!!

ICE WINGS BABYYY!! My icewings are wolf like! I did consider deers, polar bears, or even seals! But I feel like ice wings fit them best over all :D

So I am no where near done with my variation headcanons but… I just wanted to announce that after I’m done with that little series my next worldbuilding sorta series will be on factions within tribes! These factions can be part of the kingdom or outside of it! Some of these factions are wven large groups of hybrids etc.

Some little sneakpeak summaries so far with Seawings! ( can you tell they are my favorite? Also some of these do overlap with variations but not all members of a tribe variation belong to these groups! )

Pirates: Pretty self explanatory, a rag tag group of dragons from different tribes, which is mostly made up of Seawing hybrids who sail the seas on giant boats. And while they are known to steal treasure, this isn’t at all true, they just like chill and explore and act tough.

Iceberg Nomads: A group of Sea/Ice hybrids who live together on a small island near the Ice Kingdom where they live all year round except in the winter where it gets a little too cold even for them and the live on the shore of the Ice Kingdom. Although in my wof universe the Ice Kingdom generally hates hybrids they made an agreement with the nomads that as long as they stay out of their way, they won’t bother them.

Those aren’t all but just a few of my most fleshed out ideas! Also make sure to join the discord server in my pinned post, there’s some really awesome and chill people there!!

Not a Design but IceWing Headcanon???

They’re SUPER LGBT+ friendly! IceWings are a rigid society and those are always depicted as anti-LGBT+, but like. Snowfox and Snowflake are definitely lesbians. And Snowfox is the ancestor of all royal IceWings, because Glacier didn’t have any other heirs.

Clearly, then, either Snowfox had a clutch of eggs with a male IceWing and instantly dumped him-- or IceWings have a way for m/m and w/w relationships to have their own kids. We know as a fact that IceWings had a well organized animus system-- consider, for a moment, this:

“The Gift Of Love”, and the next animus having “The Gift Of Self”. 

So like, basically what I’m seeing here is the gift of love coming from an animus who was a lesbian that was with the current IceWing heir. And like, the heir’s mom was super chill about it but also very much “You’re going to have to have kids one day” about it?

And maybe said animus-- I’m going to call her Polar for now, I think --was struggling to figure out what exactly the tribe needed from her, y’know? They already have all of these amazing things-- and then it strikes her that like. She and her love can’t have heirs. So she starts planning.

Eventually she makes it to the day when her gift to the tribe is revealed and she just unveils this ice sculpture- and it’s a really well done sculpture, too, of two featureless eggs with a group of dragons surrounding them? And underneath there’s like,, a little hollow space underneath it, and she speaks the words that “This statue, when asked, will produce a clutch of eggs for any group of dragons- regardless of gender, sexuality, or biological sex.” or something like that!

And then she and her now-wife have a clutch of three eggs and they’re just so happy about it and they love their kids!

One of their kids, though, is ftm trans and he doesn’t like. Have a good way to transition. So one of his siblings- the animus sibling -is just like “HEY MOM I KNOW MY GIFT!” and three months later there’s another statue next to the egg statue that’s literally just. If a dragon touches it and asks with a specific key word, they are magically transformed into their gender and not forced to stay in their biological body.

I dunno I just feel like this one(1) time the IceWings were like “Yeah?? That’s not cool we’re gonna fix that so that we don’t have to worry about high ranking generals not feeling safe in their own body or our lesbian queens never having heirs.”
