W. What happened to Gilbert that has you this enthusiastic for Ferdinand to meet the same fate?

it was HORRIFYING, like GENUINELY and i think Ferdinand deserves the worst of death so it fits.

spoilers to the second big main story arc:

Gilbert didn't exactly fully die that's the kicker, but basically, he was tricked into becoming an Otherworld Key, meaning that Otherworld creatures are constantly passing through his body, torturing him, driving him into horrible pain. But as the Key, he's "immortal" in the sense that his body doesn't die, but the pain is still there, constant, destroying him, so much so that by the end of the process, Gilbert's mind is dead to the pain and suffering, he's a being of suffering and nothing else. and then he was thrown to be the generator of The Great Wall, A weapon that, once given a life, would unleash a terrible beam on people. It has to be used with another soul controlling the Wall, but point is that therefore, on top of that, he was forced to "die" to aliment the Great Wall, then come back to life, because now immortal, despite the amount of suffering he was into. The Great Wall eventually blew up and he fell into the Crimson Horizon, so now he's basically a Key to the Otherworld which is just full of Otherworld creature crawling through him, torturing him, putting him in so much pain all while he can't die even though his spirit died.... for the Otherworld beings crawling through him to just end up staying in the Crimson Horizon.

it was already horrifying, when it comes to Giblert, and trust me i wished his death so bad, but this really was so hard to stomach when, in pure Granblue Fashion, it takes its sweet ass time showing you how it slowly kills him over and over again until his mind can no longer handle it and yet he keeps dying and staying alive.

HOWEVER Ferdinand deserve the same death AND since technically the "death" are like, not actual death, and that instead he stays alive, but unable to live on like a normal person (+ falling into the Crimson Horizon) it should mean he can't reincarnate right??? right???? Like the "mind dying" isn't literal, so it means he'd just stay alive and suffer right?? right???

All i'm saying is that i wouldn't extend the same last minute compassion i felt for Gilbert for that guy. It can work.

god now i’m thinking back to the Nalhegrande arc and how it really managed to make me genuinely Hate, Hate, HATE Gilbert, that it’s one of the few antagonists in GBF that i find genuinely unredeemable and that i hate with all of my being, but how the end they gave him is so, so horrifying, that i can’t even be glad that he suffered to this extend and therefore i feel just so genuinely bad about Gilbert, not because he had any reason to be pitied for his backstory or anything, but just because the way his storyarc ended was just so damn cruel. Earned in the sense that it was always building up to it, but man. man.

Like this specific mix of pure, unfiltered hatred, with this pure unfiltered horror that I can’t be glad about in any case, is so damn rare imo and i’m still so amazed granblue pulled it off. one of the best antagonist of the game imo.

i’m so used to this type of story to never mention The Mom, but there??? this is insane.

that does give some credit to the idea of the mom being an Astral at least but wtf. Wtf????

also if she’s still alive this is even MORE abandonment issue for our MC wtf. Vyrn only MVP. Wow.
