The Ratings Aside from one being paid the other free, there are two very significant difference that i found between Lichess and chess.com. One is in there rating system, and the other is in their communication with members. I found that the Lichess higher rated player were far weaker than the higher rated players on chess.com. Also, that attaining these higher ratings at Lichess was far easier on Lichess because of the weaker opposition that these higher ratings represented. Sure, attaining those ratings gives you a sense of accomplishments. However, so does having a 20 win zero loss in boxing earned against weaker boxers some refer to as bums. So personally, I prefer to genuinely ear my ratings at chess.com because it more accurately represents what the rating is indicating. Moderator Supervision Another area of very significant difference is in the way they attempt to supervise the website. You see, at chess.com, moderators are very easily accessible, both directly and via a general communication area wee you can explain your concerns and they ware immediately transferred to their attention. Yu are provided with a thank you and are told that someone will address your concern soon. Then you get a private message about it and the moderator offer explanations and provided suggested solutions in reference to your concern in a very decent friendly way. All in a very friendly and helpful manner. In contrast, at Lichess I saw no such easily prominently accessible are where the same can be done. There, your concerns are responded to by some faceless message. Even when you are suddenly restricted for some perceived violation you are provided with the specifics of your breach. For example, I was allowed to continue to post, for approx. a week after they had silently made my posts invisible to other members. I had assumed that other members had decided not to respond. That they were happy with just continuing their diatribes against me as usual and were giving me the silent treatment. So with that erroneous idea in mind, I continued to post. Then after about a week, I noticed that my posts could not be rated. So something was wrong. OK, So no feedback on my posts. But since I was seeing my posts, I assumed everyone else was. Then my daughter informed me that my posts were not visible. All this without one single explanation from any ichess moderator. In short, Ichess might be free. However, ichess can also be very frustrating place to discuss things and play chess. So I chose to simply leave in order to evade the moderator-approved harassment that involved a constant barrage of dirty insults that the ichess moderators were cunningly ignoring, and to participate at chess.com instead, where my basic human dignity and rights were being respected.
