Stranger danger when we first 'met'
With not much to say
Only our favourite films yet,
From Portrait of a Lady to the timeless Casablanca
Broadway musicals and our beloved tracks
When I went to the cinema
You said it was unsafe
And commented on my (ahem) level of social distancing
To prove my point, I captured every solo picture
To show you how responsible I was while sitting at every table
We could have gone for a run
We could have had some oysters
But then circuit breaker came
And every plan tumbled after
I don’t remember when
Or how our conversations grew
From one show to another
Our binge list started to balloon
It could have been the films that brought me out of space
Or your virtual companionship that fueled my make-believe
Was it chemistry?
No, it must not be
Because I was the only one between us who claimed it exists
I love how our convos grow longer
And how topics get a little wider
From animal spirits to zodiac signs
Into the night, it gets later and later
But thankfully, we don't stay up to talk about dead partners
Will this grow and how will it evolve
This story leaves much yet to be told
We’ll make the most of it and there’ll be no regrets
Because “when the sky turns to grey”, at least, I watched it with you..
