“Carried The Load” My dad doesn’t remember things. He was the foundation of our family, carried a genius IQ and had at least 2 patents. Was a mechanical engineer in the electrical field for most of his career and taught me how to be a good man. We still have more good days than bad but it’s obvious that several of his “circuits” have burned out. Walnut bowl with reactive paint, cosmic cloud, electrical terminals and copper wire. 11.5 inches diameter and 6.5 inches tall. The bowl was actually turned around 2015 and cracked badly almost immediately. Couldn’t bear to trash it, knew I’d eventually find a way to use it for something. Sat on the floor, on shelves and in several boxes until I got this idea. This is the second finished work in my “On the Inside” project. A series of conceptual pieces allowing me to tell some stories from my own perspective. #wood #woodturner #woodturning #lathe #latheart #bowl #bowlturner #bowlturning #bowlmaker #art #artwork #artpiece #conceptual #sculpture #turnsomethingcool #alzheimers #alzheimersawareness #ontheinside #stl #stlouis #stlmade #electricity #shortcircuit #thewalnutlogstudio #craftalliance (at Craft Alliance Center of Art + Design) https://www.instagram.com/p/B06NL50gmTN/?igshid=9py0o099ksn6
