Have ever read or checked ICO:castle in the mist by miyuki miyabe? I'm reading it, and it's 387 pages long. Will you ever consider, even if it's not canon to the story, talking/discussing about it?
It's on a list of things to do, for sure. I actually did read all of Part 1, and the bit of Part 2 that leads into entering the castle itself. Basically, I read up to the point where the player would normally take control in the game. I took extensive notes and color-code highlighted certain passages on my e-reader and everything. Those notes are dated December of 2022, so this was about half a year before I'd even started my YouTube channel.
And that was part of why I stopped. Not because I disliked Miyuki Miyabe's take, but because I wanted to have my own understanding of The Castle in the Mist before I delved too deep into her interpretation of the setting. I wanted to be able to write my own take on this world one day, so I hesitated to be influenced too much by an outside view.
Right now, I think I do have enough theories about the construction of the castle and the history of the world to dive in again. I just haven't taken the plunge. And I probably won't this year, because any time I dedicate to ICO lately has to prioritize the various projects that I want to be ready before the 25th Anniversary this year. Which, depending on what you'd consider the true release date, could be as soon as 90 days from now. Ideally, I want to have stuff ready on both September 25th (the early US release) and December 6th (the Japanese release date).
