If you're a business-minded visionary and planner like me, this is the job title/career for you. I had been applying to jobs for the past month and after reading each job post and its responsibilities, I got closer and closer to defining the career path I would like to take. Granted, I am currently working at the Banana Republic flagship as a Sales Support (hopefully soon-to-be, Sales Stylist) but I know that success takes both time, faith, perseverance, hard (& good) work, and a boatload of patience.
I still cry and complain here and there but I know that what I'm doing and where I'm going is right. Remember that wedding I went to as my date's +1? That night I befriended the most amazing and accomplished woman at our table and she was the one to reassure me that I'm on the right path. Sure my friends and mentors can all say the same thing to me and I appreciate it (a lot), but hearing this from a complete stranger somehow made it all the more realistic and comforting. She was really honest with me and, although she barely knew me, she really knew and understood my story. She told me the choices I made to get myself here in this city and the choices I am currently making are what it takes to be on top and own my world.
I am strategizing my innovative life.
I'm in the city because I know my best opportunities are here. I'm single because I should be focusing on me. I'm at an internship because I need to see what other possible paths there are to take. I'm working retail because I need the money. I do freelance styling now to help build my resume, lead me to another possible pathway, and maintain my livelihood. I keep myself open to adventure and new/old friendships because I need to live my life fully and courageously. And I surround myself with a variety of driven people because it will encourage the same behavior and produce results.
Thanks to her, and especially those who have been supporting me recently, I realized that even though I am not exactly an Innovation Strategist at Idea Couture just yet, I currently hold a similar job title of my own: Josianne Kei, Life Designer/Visionaire. And I already know that this full-time job will get me where I'm supposed to be.
