Your Game of Thrones AU!! Holy man so beautiful! How do you get started with your AUs? Do you have a process? How do you make your aus so rich and good?! I love it!
WAHAHAH (/)//(/) asdfgydfghgn THANK YOU!!
The original idea for this AU came from @trashytacosan and I got so inspired by this post here. And then @josai and I started screaming at each other over it and we came up with an own au story for them within the world of GoT and with the theme of wildling and nightwatch. So I started with my first sketches and Cj wrote this sweet fic.
So this is what I basically first do when I have an au idea. I scream it out!!I don’t know how the ideas come..cause lately my brain really jumps from one au and hc idea to the next and it makes me crazy! Too many ideas and little scenes. Not even full developed Aus. Just random scenes and ideas. So not sure how this happens :D but when I really enjoy and au and it sticks with me I come up with more scenes and hcs for it and share them.Cause I guess what makes the AUs so “rich” as you said is the fact that I talk about them and toss around hcs and ideas. And it always helps to talk with others about them. Cause they might come up with some new ideas or questioning my old ones..or just ask questions and make me think about them further ad expand the ideas. So this is always an important process.
Other then this I don’t really have a process. Music helps me a lot to come up with the right mood and ideas.I also would say I think in images…or mood and vibes…like as the au as a whole concept… ..mh…Like if I have an idea for an au or a scene I have the mood and vibe in mind. The smell of air and the light, clothes and environment, expressions and gestures. Like it’s a concept for a mood and feeling I have in mind and I try to put as much as possible into one picture…or comic. Maybe like for a movie…I can’t show the smell of the scene I have in mind…but for example I have this Fishermen Au..and the mood I have is old trawler, rusty railing and peeling paint, the smell of motor oil and fish, old oilskin clothes and a wild sea, the mood of freedom and hard work, loneliness and a small group of close colleagues. …I can’t really show the smell or the thoughts of the individual characters…but I can use colors and light to convey those mood and I can draw gestures and poses to convey those feelings. So yes, I guess thinking in this concepts and having always a whole vibe for the au in mind helps to bring it to life. I might not always have the most original hc ideas but I always have a vivid setting in mind and try to draw it or bring it somehow to life. This said, Aus that don’t awake this feeling in me won’t make it far with me. I need to “feel” it :D And mostly it’s the feeling first and the idea of a setting and I create ideas and hcs around it.
Thank you! <3
