If I meet someone new whom I think is really awesome (or, even, superior to me), I'm reluctant to get to know them as a whole person. I'm scared. I don't want my perfect image of them to shatter.

Idealisation and Devaluation 101: Self
Some days, I'm on top of the world. I feel amazing. I'm the best person in the world! Other days? I'm at the bottom of the trash heap, wondering how this could happen to me.
First order of business: I’m probably going to write a bit about idealisation and devaluation because 1. It’s an important concept to me because I do it so often; 2. I’m kinda going through a rough idealising/devaluing period (more devaluing than anything though) with someone and it’s just… it’s killing me, it really is.
