Thoughts on visuals
Over the weekend I went to the world of wearable arts down in wellington or “WOW” and I was amazed at all of the intricate pieces. Something that got to me more than the visual side of things was the backstory/inspiration behind some of the pieces. Down the side of each of the pieces was a blurb about the inspiration or backstory to the costume and for me, this helped understand some of the more “out there” pieces.
This then got me thinking about my project and my reason for doing it - there is really no point in putting an image of myself through a string of random numbers through Photoshop, no deeper meaning. So what could I do?
I thought about this a lot over the past three days and have come to the conclusion of using a photo that reflects humanity. Though, what singular photo could reflect an entire species, history and culture?
Some thoughts I’ve had are:
An elderly person
Reflects the one constant in life - getting older
A young person
Reflects the potential for life
The ocean
Shows the compound of potential life
People in the city
Shows the diversity of people in the world
An update 5/10/15:
I’ve come up with the theme of the photo I am going to use, but still have not finalized what the specific image is going to be. This afternoon in the stdio class I am going to label the effects in Photoshop with numbers and do some further research into randomness.
