Okayokok smallest blurb of nitpicking -

I understand Metal Gear compares humans to animals. They have animal names. The actual snake itself is more than symbolic. I get it I get it.

But when you describe characters or real life people as animalistic - and there is a case that Big Boss does this deliberately, but I would also argue that he's doing it to himself - uh,

I guess I'm just saying if your white characters are always considered more 'civilized' as opposed to other characters who are not white always being cast as wild, uncontrollable, etc - maybe don't. Maybe don't do that.

A character can be described as in touch with nature and less concerned with being accepted by the dominant culture, and maybe even strongly associated with animals, without being - given the kind of baggage that comes with words like 'savage'.

Because there's 'you're a proud and solitary wolf' and there's 'you're literally a dog to me'.

What the character thinks or says can be whatever. Characters are frequently problematic. But when you're like OH HE'S A GOLDEN LAB BOYFRIEND SO PUPPY :) and the 'puppy' is just a person of color or you're implying they need to be 'tamed' or 'civilized' just don't.
