The Closest Thing to Home
It was not cold when he woke. For the average man, this is to be expected. He has a blanket to keep out of the cold or a wife to hold close or at the very least walls to protect from the weather. But in a life of rooftops for beds and clothes worn thin from use, the feeling was uncommon save the hottest nights of mid-August.
The source of the heat shifted. Jan snapped out of the unwakeful delirium and barely kept himself from jumping back. As he came more to himself, the memories of the previous night returned. She fell asleep sobbing all over him. He fell asleep trying not to sob all over her. And here they were. Jan blinked. Here they were. She was still there. Bronwyn was still there. Brownyn never stayed long enough to say goodbye, much less be caught asleep and yet here she was asleep in his arms-
That was when a second thought struck him.
He was literally closer to her than he had ever been to a woman in his life. Miss Kerr no less. While a part of him very much wanted to stay right there as they were (the part that abhorred the cold and did not want to part from this moment in time), the rest of him was screaming that he needed to let go of her right now and move a suitable distance away before she woke up and hurt him.
As gently as he could, Jan pulled back away from her, slipping his arms away and attempting to lower her to the rooftop without waking her. Re-fixing her blanket, or rather his for loan, over her, he moved a few paces away and sat himself, wrapped up in his cloak, down, watching the dawning sky.
// Well, time to go intensely study the Georgian era so I can write Geogian AU.
Because Bronwyn is there. And as much as Jan denies it, he wants to be there too.
// so I'm just going back and reading through old threads and posts and shtufff.... and reminiscing good times... because that's what I do when trying to write replies XD- remember that time Lizzie had to run interference between Jan and Bronwyn?.... I was just rereading that and literally laughing out loud.... and remember tht Twelfth Night thing where Brooke dressed up as a guy? omg rp is beautiful XD //

// Roleplaying With Bethy Is Like...
See this adorable little princess? (yes, that's actually her. yes, she's actually that cute)
Yeah. And here's me not working on drafts or starters for her... again.
But then she'll be like
And then I'll be writing replies like
And then she'll be writing replies like
And THEN
And then
The cycle repeats.
I was going to make a Munday vid, but then I realized I could use gifs as footage. And then I realized I had gifs for Jan and Bronwyn. And then this happened. Enjoy a bit of Modern!Verse Janwyn vidding fun. <3
// Janwyn is the reason I never establish ships prior to actually writing a story.
Planning stage: Jan never met Bronwyn. He lived on the streets and eventually his family issues came back into his life when his cousin was crowned king. He worked with the Castillon family to overthrow the corrup Beinards and restore the rightful heir to the throne. Personal note, I liked the idea of him and Anise Castillon (the older of the two princesses)
Writing stage: Jan and Bronwyn met. Beth began to ship them. Jan and Bronwyn met again. I began to ship them. Jan and Bronwyn became our in-story OTP. They moved to present day. They moved to regency verse. They moved to the 1920s. They moved to Hogwarts. WE SHIP THEY ACROSS ALL TIME AND SPACE!
So this is why ships don't work in initial planning stages.
