Brothers Dressler, Toronto
“We like to figure out what can be done with the materials we work with, how we can explore different materials. We work primarily with wood, but we use all sorts of different sources — urban, salvaged and reclaimed woods. We use found objects,” says Lars Dressler, one half (Jason is the other half) of Brothers Dressler, a Toronto-based furniture and design studio.
“Rather than getting exotic wood from elsewhere, Ontario has incredible hardwood forests. But there’s also a tremendous amount of wood in the city,” he says, adding that Brothers Dressler doesn’t want to be associated with reclaimed furniture. “We make finely crafted furniture utilizing responsibly sourced material.” The brothers also use as much of each material as possible.
At the Maker feature, among other new work, Brothers Dressler will showcase a new table design, “which is a continuation of the Cross Table design. It’s called Cross IV. It has a slanted angle base, and a variety of top options. The top we are showing is actually solid walnut, with an interior live edge.”
Designer Christopher Solar describes the Alpha lounge chair as “a minimalist-yet-comfortable
HOUSE Manifesto No. 0272 - The secret that lies within this kaleidoscopic glowing gateway at the Interior Design Show is a design world collision that combines the efforts of a custom fabricator, gallerist, visual artist & landscape designer. All bringing us this art installation evocative of a teleportation portal, revealing a glaringly ultra bright dimension that could be interpreted as an urban landscape of the future, realized from what the design show has to offer & the potential to shape.
