Today's daily Fire Emblem character is Idunn!

“ are you okay with this? ” for Idunn to celebrate her new alt?

You had noticed Idunn constantly circling around a particular flower patch, admiring them every time she did so, and you knew that soon they were about to fall out of season. You had come up with an interesting solution, with the help of other heroes.

"Are okay with this?" You ask, and Idunn nods, helping you pick the flowers from their patch on the ground. You note her slightly sullen expression when all of the flowers are removed, leaving the space plain.

But with the help of the heroes from earlier, and your steady hands, Idunn's intrigued expression as you wove the flowers into a crown. Joy lighting up her features, as you present her with the finished product, a flower crown that was enchanted to never wilt.

Eagerly she lent down so you could put it on her head, but after about five minutes of it on, she paused, staring at you. "You should have one too." She states, before leading you off to find flowers to create your own crown.

Of course! Idunn deserves the love so very much, hopefully I did her justice!

Another dragon?

Idunn would be... Hesitant at first

Sure, Fae turned out to be alright, but that’s only one other dragon

What if you turned out to be more aggressive than Fae? What if you were more similar to what she... What she...

When she tries to remember nothing comes to her mind... And yet she still feels uncertain

Sometimes she curses herself for starting to... Feel... Again

Fae helps encourage her, though, telling her that you seem nice and that she’d love to have more dragon friends!

Idunn can never say no to Fae, especially when she’s got that huge smile on her face

So she started talking to you in that endearingly awkward way she always seems to talk

You treated her warmly, it was reassuring

The fear she could never truly explain started to diminish around you

She almost felt... Comforted with you

Emotions are still hard for her to adjust to, now that she’s finally starting to recover and get herself back from what happened to her

But she wants to try with you and she finds herself enjoying herself (and even smiling, as Fae pointed out) when she’s around you

Unless you asked her if you wanted to consider yourselves an official pair, she would never say anything

Whether it be nervousness or the thought just... Never coming to mind is unknown, but she just naturally started acting more affectionate and soft with you over time

You certainly weren’t complaining

Verbal affection is hard for her, as she still doesn’t exactly know how to describe the way she feels about anything, let alone something as confusing as love

But she’s physically affectionate in very soft ways

She’ll often lay her head on your shoulder if you’re sitting together, and even though her expression remains blank you can feel a certain warmth when she does so

One day you steeled your nerves and put your arm over her shoulders while she was laying against you

You could tell she was confused, looking up at you with eyes full of questions she didn’t know how to ask

But you just gave her a reassuring smile, and that was enough for her to relax against you again

She even cuddled closer than before

Idunn isn’t very social, so her love language, aside from physical touch, revolves around being together in comfortable silence

Sitting next to each other in the library while you each read or work on strategy

Walking through the gardens and courtyards of the castle together, not speaking, just taking in the scenery and enjoying the sounds of life

It helps her feel more comfortable with herself to take walks

The obligation to destroy she feels becomes more manageable when she listens to the way everything around her is enjoying life

Sometimes it comes with a sense of guilt she can’t quite explain, but you’re always there for her when she feels that way

To reassure her that what happened isn’t her fault

And that you love her despite it

Love is... A strange concept to her, it has been a long time since she’s considered it, but... Sometimes, very softly, you can almost hear an “I love you too”

While still anxiously waiting for my Ipad to be repaired, on Fire Emblem Heroes, as someone who's two best units are Grima and Idunn, i have no words for shipping them.

OKAY BUT LISTEN:

- They were both created to be ultimate weapons/life forms (by Forneus and the Elibean dragons respectively)

- They both faced betrayals from their creators (the dragons transformed Idunn against her will, and Forneus tried to kill Grima)

- They both have unnatural abilities in the fields of necromancy (Idunn can create soulless War Dragons, Grima can raise the dead).

- Humans tried to wipe out Idunn’s species and she’s been taught that they must be destroyed, while Grima heavily implies he tried to make humans happy and got stabbed in the back for it. So they both have legitimate grievances with humanity.

- They’ve both tried to wipe out humanity.

- They both question the point of life/doing good--and this is where the biggest difference is, as Idunn questions out of vague curiosity and is willing to listen, while Grima questions to mock you and prop up his worldview.

- As far as dragons go, their appearances are pretty monstrous, probably because of the experiments that created them; Grima's got six eyes, that creepy-ass human face in his skull, and is so massive he should have problems moving. Idunn is covered in spikes and is also a lot bigger than other Divine Dragons. Something small, but even small commonalities can resonate.

So they actually have quite a bit in common, like so much it surprised me. If there’s anyone Grima might feel something other than snideness towards besides all his adopted dragon children, it’d surely be someone who went through the same thing he did and has similar powers. Their shared experiences could give them a lot to talk about.

But also, Idunn’s actually showing improvement in regards to personal healing and nurturing weaker things (like flowers and children), so I imagine she could have some interesting philosophical debates with Grima. And her similarities to him might actually give her words more weight? Like I can see him dismissing a lot of people because “haha you don’t know what I’ve been through, you wouldn’t think that if you did” but...Idunn does? And hearing someone, who has as much reason as him to hate humans, vouch for protecting them, would probably give him pause.

(or it could go the other way and she swings back around to ‘BURN DESTROY’ but I’m not stomping all over Idunn’s redemption)

Sometimes, Aether Raids cut me a break.

I can't believe I'm saying this about any comp that involves Surtr, but then in 2018 we didn't have Idunn to annihilate green armours in particular.
