Sometimes I wonder if tutorial guy was alive
Hunter Lucky is scared of hurting survivors during matches, so he's always friendly. The hunters try to convince him otherwise, saying that too many losses could result in a punishment by the Baron, but Lucky would rather die again than hurt the people who were only trying to survive like him all those years (??) ago
Sometimes, when a hunter knocks on his door to wake him up, no one answers. The door only opens for them the next day, with Lucky coming out more reserved than usual.
These periods of inactivity from Lucky slowly increases over time. One day turns into a week. A week turns into a month. At worst, he's MIA for 6 months.
The Discontinued Crew are always worried sick during these times. The hunters seem to know something they don't, with hunters like Michiko looking oddly pained when asked about where Lucky is, with the exception of Robbie who says that talks about Lucky immediately shut down whenever he enters the room
One day, Graveyard Girl and Stranger get an invitation to a match. There's no information on who the hunter could be, but they dont think much of it
Its Graveyard who finds Lucky first, standing still and eerily quiet in front of the exit gate. She immediately runs over to greet him, ecstatic at her friend's return after such a long time
She doesn't see how Lucky's grip on his weapon tightens. Stranger shouts at her to run away, but by then, it's too late.
Lucky gets his first win.
Lucky actually dying in the Manor Games without interacting with anyone, ergo no one even knows he existed 🫥 But remains trapped in the manor anyway
Survivors say that there's a spirit haunting the manor, in the form of soft whispers of "good morning" with every new day. The fresh breakfast on the table. The full water can for the garden. The books returned to their proper places after being left in the open overnight.
It doesnt just apply to the manor too. Whenever the spirit's in a 'good mood' during matches, chests give out your wished item. Pallets drop on hunters without the survivors needing to do so themselves. Even when you're trying to do a cipher machine by yourself, it always seems like someone else is there, decoding with you.
It seems the survivors aren't the only ones believing that such a spirit exists. Hunters have also mentioned of hearing an extra heartbeat during matches, seeing the faint outline of a young man whenever they get stunned by pallets, or even sensing another person at the table whenever they wait for another match to start
But there's one survivor who seems to know more than he lets on. Stranger.
He talks of brown hair and freckles, and wonky frames that never quite fit his face. He talks of the most luckiest guy he's ever met, always hitting jackpot with every game he's ever played. But he also mentions how he was never really fond of the attention his luck gave him, making him timid and troubled with his thoughts. He tried to support him the best he can, but it didn't seem like anything he did or said was able to ease his friend's burden.
And now that friend is dead.
"His world is like a slot machine that he always wins at."
"Doesn't seem like it."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Sorry in advance, but he's not exactly...here with us anymore."
"I wouldn't say that."
"Then, how would you explain it?"
"I guess...his luck failed him when he needed it most."
"Or do you mean when you needed it most?"
"Excuse me?"
"Did you ever wonder what would happen if he decided to...stop playing?"
Stranger doesn't reply.
The ghost of a hand on his shoulder doesn't comfort him the slightest.
