Is the MC *currently* an Angel? Or has being cast out made them something else instead? Do they still feel compelled to act in accordance with their nature (rage)? I don't know if this is inspired by In Nomine, but it feels like there are some similarities -- if you're familiar, in In Nomine terms, might the MC be an Outcast or even a Remnant?
I've never seen or played In Nomine, however it sounds super interesting!
MC is currently an angel however they have been effectively banished from the Anantheris (Aquine's celestial plane).
This means they still hold the same/similar abilities that the other angel's have but they aren't able to freely return to the Anatheris through will.
Theres also a few other consquences that happen throughout the story for you and Thalwood.
Hello!!!! Intoxicating Fear the Rewrite is on Hiatus at the moment — for two weeks, as I am going to Vienna (I am on the plane rn) so It will be back after that I can link the rewrite: H E R E (there are five parts so far)
I am working on other requested stories continuations atm, and while I love IF, the other stories need more attention (my poor neglected Whumpers… they haven’t whumped their whumpees in ages🥺)
However, if you mean more Intoxicating Fear OG (like part 30) that will be released within the next month (so before the end of August) I aiming for!!!
Thank you for reading, I just need to catch up on the parts and edits so it’s having a wee break but it will be back!!! Don’t worry :)
That might be a silly question, but I wondered about one thing. As a player I always choose to play as a male MC in games, visual novels and IFs, but sometimes I feel that other players (even the authors) choose female MCs. I think that's because of the target audience. But because of this, sometimes it seems that female MC is more fitting, more right, more expected?
So dear devs, my question is... do you mind male MCs in your games? What do you feel when you see someone's male MC?
Alright, the natural follow up to the hickey question - what is their reaction when they realize the hickey isn't a hickey? (Just a bug bite, odd rash, bruise from trying to open something, grip slips and they accidentally hit themselves, whatever the explanation is, etc), probably crushing/relationship stages, if you wish to, of course.
Very excited about this work.
I was waiting with bated breath for this.
Mild NSFW under the cut.
Warning (this post is like 2.5K words long)
For the fun of this scenario I'm going to make the characters confront/ask Mc about the bug bite in crushing stages and relationship stages because that's fun.
Nyneve
Crushing stage:
Nyneve had been watching you for quite a while now, as you both sat by the lake. His eyes pinned to you like he was watching prey. Lips pressed into a fine line mimicking something close to anger. Confusion, frustation - maybe? Finally, as your eyes meet, he snaps like a twig under a fawn's hoof.
"Your neck." He almost touches you, the warm bubbling in your tummy, frustration begging to overflow. "Who gave that to you?"
You looked at him and then peered into the lake brows furrowed.
"Oh!" You smiled, "I accidentally hit myself trying to open one of those glass containers." Pointing towards the small blue bottle. "The uhm, Moonshade wine."
You watched Nyneve's cheeks go from pale to beet red, head retreating into his hands.
"Of fucking course, you did."
Relationship stage:
Nynn had been clinging you for quite a while now, constantly in your space. Now was no different - practically working his way into your skin.
"Starlight," you hummed as he nestled into the crook of your neck. "I'm not going anywh-" A bite to your neck halted your thoughts.
Ouch - that hurt.
"So, who's the idiot who tried to mark you?" Mark you? Your hand touched your neck, remembering the bug that tried to steal your blood last night.
"You mean, the mosquito bite?"
Quickly, Nyneve ducked into your neck again, something between a groan and an embarrassed whimper making is way up his throat. His jealousy caught, red handed.
"Shut up."
Nami
Crushing stage:
You and Nami sat by the river not too far apart but not too close either. She liked it that way and you obliged. You didn't mind. Especially when she's as skittish as a Wispsoul rabbit. And well, honestly, she'd been much more skittish than a Wispsoul rabbit today, hot and cold. Simultaneously ready to run away and wanting to hold onto your very soul.
"Angel..." She spoke softly, almost meekly. Eyes pinned to the grassy moss, hands digging it apart like she'd find something to distract herself from the tension. "Your neck."
Your hand brushed the bruise on your neck, you already knew it was there. You shouldn't have tried to climb that tree.
"Ah, the bruise, I accidentally fell yesterday." The see her expression change from pensive, to confused, to something like embarrassment and relief.
"Oh."
A small shy smile appears on her lips.
Relationship stage:
You and Nami sat by the lake, the sun setting. Apart from her pleading stares and mild clinginess, today has been calm.
"Angel, why do you have that - what is it." She points to her own neck in to show you where she's talking about. And you remember the battle you had with the rock - you threw it, and it bounced... Right at your neck!
"I-" you decide against telling her about your failed rock battle, "I fell and hit my neck a little."
"Oh, are you okay - would you like me to make you some food? Or give you some water?" She's by your side almost instantly, checking you for more pain.
"It's okay my heart, I'm fine - I'm great."
Crew
Crushing stage:
Crew was always affectionate and that hadn't changed today. You sat at his Tavern & inn - Harmon's Rest. The bustling of music accompanied you as you drank a sweet drink. Crew was working, but soon you'd be able to spend time together. His cheeks were red as you made eye contact. His tongue darting out of his mouth to wet his lips. Quickly he turned, hanging a cloth and walking over to you.
"Your neck, who's the lucky person?" He said smirk widening on his face. Eyes just a little darker than usual.
"My neck? Oh, yeah a grove spider bit me." You scratch the bite, "It's still a little itchy."
Crew's face drops for a moment before his smile returns a little queasy now though.
"I hate those blasted things."
Relationship stage:
It's morning as you arrive at the Inn, a bundle of gifts for a very special girl lay delicately in your arms. Slowly you walk up the wooden stairs and they creak under your weight.
"Hello my heart." Crew says as you meet his gaze. It seems Laverne isn't awake yet. You walk over to a table, slightly messy - well used, and you place the gifts on the table.
"For firebug, I assume?" He says touching your neck going to give it a kiss but stopping. "Oh? Did someone have fun without me?"
You blush, just about every shade of red climbing up your cheeks. Crew gives a hearty laugh and squeezes you a little. You take a deep breath in almost wishing you did have some fun last night, at least then you wouldn't have to admit to this.
"No... I feel getting out of the lake last night."
You see his face tighten, like he's trying to hold in a laugh. He's not succeeding very well.
"See! This is why I tell you not to go in the lake at night."
Ahri
Crushing stage:
They've been quieter than usual, almost mellow. And you'd be able to deal with that if it wasn't for the fact that it's Ahri. She won't talk, at least not like she usually does and the wine isn't helping.
"Why are you acting," you move your hands dramatically, "like this."
She cocks her eyebrow, unimpressed.
"Your neck, since when did you get in the habit of parading your lovers around?" Her nose crinkles up. "Quite dramatic, don't you think?" She rolls her eyes, false bravado spewing out. "I mean - at least leave some mystic for the imagination."
Your head feels like it's going to explode, you can't tell if she's being sarcastic or agressive- is this some mash of the two? But even worse than that, you don't have a lover, and why would she care if you do?
"I don't- my neck has a rash Ahri, I accidentally walked into some ivy, and it made me itchy."
You see their nose scrunch again, "Well why didn't you just say that dove? You had me guessing for no reason."
Relationship stage:
Ahri has been all over you since the moment you got in the door - the wine has been absolutely abandoned and your usual routine absolutely dismantled.
Their lips drag over your neck, "such a pretty hickey, where did it come from?" She covers it with her own, littered in bites. You pull away slightly.
"Sorry Ahri, wait." She stops completely, a worried expression on her face.
"Yes dove, are you okay?"
You wave off her concern with your hand.
"Thats just a mosquito bite."
"How rude, those insatiable creatures," She grins, giving you a kiss on the neck. This time it's much more delicate.
Cazine
Crushing stage:
You aren't sure how you found this place. It took a lot of work to be able to follow Cazine when they run off. Moss sprawled across thick, overgrown trees, with birds that whisper sweetly.
You hear a quiet sigh, and you can feel the frustration bubbling in their stomach. Cazine sitting with legs crossed on the grass, their back towards you.
"You followed me." They turn to face you.
"Yes, you said good morning to me and then practically flew into the forest." You say tone exacerbated; you sit next to them.
It's afternoon now and their hair is past their chin, not quite at their shoulders. They touch it with calloused hands.
"You have - your neck. You should cover it."
Your hand slaps your neck, and you wince. Their eyebrows furrow, slightly annoyed at the loud sound.
"It's powder - rogue I let Laverne play with it. She decided to put it on my neck. I just didn't have the time to wash it off."
They pinch their nose. "You're a pushover when it comes to her."
"I know."
Relationship stage:
You're not sure how long youve been standing in the doorway to Cazine's Art room. Mesmerized by their portraits - many of which are of you.
You can't help but smile, your ego inflating a little. This is how they view you.
But today they arent painting a person or an angel. Today it's the forest.
"Your neck has a bruise on it. Why?" They say, mouth downturned slightly.
You walk over to them smiling softly.
"When sparring with Crew, I think I pulled a muscle." You rub your neck slightly, the strain of it still against your hand. Standing for a while probably didnt help either.
They rub your neck softly, dried paint on their fingers. "You need to be more careful love." You lean into them. Humming in agreement.
I don't understand gender roles myself to begin with, so I think I can do a pretty good job of playing an MC who doesn't. I still have no idea why so many people online randomly assume I'm a woman -- and only online, since I look way too masculine to be mistaken for a woman in person. People definitely assume I'm a man in person. But I'm sure it has something to do with gender roles because nothing else makes sense.
I'll for sure have options for people who want to play and Mc who doesn't understand gender roles!
I get that, I have always been the type to do what I want with gender. I wear and do what I want - just because. I kind of rejected gender roles from a fairly young age anyways. So I can relate to the sentiment!
Who knows, I tend to find that a lot of the time people will assume they are talking to someone who is the same gender as them online. I think if people aren't sure they tend to look for familiarity in the unfamiliar.
Do you have any tips for someone also wanting to start making an IF w 0 coding and little writing experience? Both in terms of coding stuff and writing?
I wish I was a better example… but I’m not 😭I would say, look up guides, YouTube guides, online manuals and read them!
And maybe try to have a demo ready before making ur intro post (don’t be like me)
Hello~ I'm new here :D so of course I stalked the entirety of your blog and came across the post where MC possibly being transphobic to Cazine was mentioned in the ask about what the ROs want/need/dread to hear
And honestly I feel like MC is more likely to be confused by the existence of gender roles more than anything 💀 They are a divine being and a hella old one at that. "Why does being a man or woman matter....? Literally anyone can do that-" - MC probably.
I think they'd find the concept of gender roles to be fucking stupid 😭
hiya Anon, thanks for the ask and welcome!
I agree with you, the likely hood of the MC ever being transphobic would be impossible not only because i wouldn't allow it but also because their own creators gender is simply not that simple. Aquine is literally every gender that her followers believe they are. Not only that but the angels learn how to change parts of their body as they mature anyways so they can literally change their perceived gender. I do think the idea of MC being like "just change your body lol" to Cazine is very hilarious and I want to implement flavour text for the MC specifically about gender roles. Especially if the MC does change their body/gender upon maturity.
I think playing around with gender dysphoria or simply wanting to change aspects of your gender (without the dysphoria) would be really fun for me to write especially with the angels in mind, so I am going to do that.
I know your ask wasn't really about that, but it opened the flood gates for me to talk about gender fuckery (my favourite topic) soooo yay.
the mc would for sure find the concept of gender roles to be so unnecessary. Which Cazine would appreciate. I could also see the MC observing human gender roles like how we observe animals through a nature documentary. The idea of MC being like ah! this is how the humans do things is really funny. And the idea of the MC trying to imitate human behaviour (especially if they suck at it) would be funny.
Thanks for your interest in the story! I always appreciate getting asks they are so fun to write about.
