Although the main draw of the book is undoubtedly the wonderful series of images depicting the drops at different stages of its dissolution, the accompanying descriptions throw up some surprisingly pleasing gems of descriptive prose. We hear of how “the central mass rises in a column which just fails itself to break up into drops, and falls back into the middle of the circle of satellites”; of “a drop of a milk falling on to smoked glass”; “traces of lobes”; and of how a drop of milk “rides triumphant on the top of the emergent column”. Gemini and Taurus star stuff ✨ This was my first long exposure attempt with my Nikon at Pine Mountain Observatory. This was 30 seconds wide open, low f-stop, manual focus, manual everything etc...it's not bad for my first night exposure with my DSLR. Regarding snowflakes…

I love being called a snowflake. Have you seen an actual snowflake? They’re goddamned beautiful! And regarding melt–if conservatives actually took the time to study science, they’d realize that snow (and snowflakes), are part of the water cycle, meaning we (the snowflakes), come back over and over again–as rain (torrential or otherwise), hurricanes, monsoons, sleet, hail, snowstorms, floods, etc. However, the snowflake is indeed our most ‘beautiful’ form, although not our final form.
