red string of fate
33. Our muses are destined to save lives together
Gale would never see it as saving lives. He would simply state that it was the right thing to do. Jim on the other hand would be slightly more cocky about the fact that yes they were saving lives and it felt damn good to. Gale had grown up watching people suffer and die, being on board the enterprise was like being in a different world all on it's own but Jim was kind and funny and one of the sweetest people Gale had ever met. Their exploration mission was one Gale would stare out on in wonder, all these different undiscovered worlds that were just waiting to be found. More importantly though was what they did. They saved people. Whatever was going on down on those plants, Jim and his crew would work to make it better or put an end to anything barbaric and Gale would help. It felt so good to be a part of it, to greet new people and learn about their lives, to see their smiles whenever the crew of the Enterprise did something to make life better or safer. Jim called it saving lives and Gale called it being a decent person. But they worked. And occasionally their eyes would meet over the top of the counter or the controls or even after savings someone's life and there would be a quiet moment where they understand each other and want nothing more than to just reach across the gap and cuddle. But things like that stay strictly in the bedroom... most of the time.
