Thought is worth sharing. #InstagramHack Woke up to an email title “Copyright Infringement Notice” from supposed @instagram I didn’t fall for it because I get paid to detect and prevent such in real world but thought to educate people because it almost convincing. The quickest and easiest way to detect such fraud email is: 1. look at the Email address of the sender and compare it to any previous email from IG. The domain name should be same but subdomain will have more added but always watch for the domain name (Can be confusing and hard to tell if they are smart). 2. Then they advice “accounts will be deactivated in 24hours”. Prompting you to take a quick action. @instagram will not send any such message without asking initially question and will rather just delete that single copy infringement if reported and they verified it to be true. 3. NO genuine website or third party should ask you for your password... NEVER. They rather send an email for you to reset your password if necessary. 3. NO one or genuine website should ask for your email password because they don’t need it to access your account if required by law. 4. If at all you provided those details before knowing, please change your IG and email password immediately. I highlighted what to watch out for in RED in my post.
