A friend of mine asked a short bit ago what would happen if IH!Sonic didn’t have access to meat, so I’d like to answer that here.
To clarify/add context, Type 2’s diets change to be meat oriented, no matter their diets beforehand (as explained here). This goes for any type of meat, most especially red meat.
Now, despite obviously not wanting to, IH!Sonic (and other Type 2’s) get these… cravings. They’re just simply cravings, however, and since he has access to food, it’s not likely that he’ll end up acting on his craving. When food/meat supply is out— and has been out for a while— it’s best to act fast in order to replenish said supply…
Just in case.
Another thing to add: Most Type 2’s need an immense amount of spice to taste normal meats/food at all. They can still feel the heat of the capsaicin reacting with the heat receptors on their tongue, and the spice(s) help their taste receptors pick up [more] flavor. This is especially true for (you guessed it) Mobian/Human meat. These are the only meats that they, for whatever reason, can taste to their full extent. It could be that the infection they have is trying to make it more rewarding to do this action, and pass it on to more hosts or keep its own host fed “properly”.
