Last Year At This Time... . I was about a third-halfway through a sixteen week adventure around the United States. I was out gathering gear, selling some, buying some, forging relationships with select vendors, making new traveling friends and perfecting my idea of an ideal basecamp setup in a variety of camp settings from backcountry desert of West Texas borderlands to the Appalachian Mountains of East Tennessee. . When I showed up there last year it didn’t take long to realize I’d found the people I was most comfortable being with; long-distance travelers in general and the workshop leaders and presenters in particular. After decades of traveling the country on extended adventures, I’d found a tribe of like-minded people all assembled in one place. . The next Overland Expo is outside Asheville NC from Nov 9–11. As of yesterday, only about 160 full experience weekend tickets are left. I’m sure that number is lower today. .
