Kiryu had first refused the drink from the woman when she’d insisted, telling her that it wasn’t needed, he helped people on the street all the time. “I sort of see it as part of my job, ma’am, no thanks needed.” She was an older but very beautiful woman, very rich looking and slightly snobby, but she’d been nice enough to him. Kiryu had stopped some thugs from running off with her purse, and gave them a few punches for their trouble. Just a run of the mill thing really. But she had been very thankful and impressed with him, as most people, especially women, tended to be.
“Oh, foolishness, I don’t hear of it!” She said, waving a gloved hand. Kiryu shrugged, they were right next to Serena so he agreed, thinking he could a least get a glass of expensive whiskey, which he did. In fact, she bought him the bottle. He thought that Nishiki would be very pleased that he’d managed that for them when he showed up.
They chatted for a little bit, she slipped Kiryu her number on a napkin, which he thought was a bit over the top and pretended not to see it. Then she thanked him again, paid for the drink and left, nearly bumping into Nishiki on the way out.
She gave Kiryu a little, flirtatious wave, but he simply nodded. When Nishiki spoke Kiryu looked at him with a curious, furrowed brow. “Didn’t get her name, now that I think of it. Just a lady that was bothered by your not so friendly neighborhood punks.” He raised the bottle. “Look what I scored, feel like staying out all night, handsome?”
