@iironkang Patrol just isn’t what it used to be. Mostly because America has gotten better at it in the decade and change she’s been in the hero business. She knows the patterns and routines, which is why something about today just seems...off.
It’s because of this that she throws herself into her work, taking down minor thugs in an effort to shake the uncanny feeling that something, somehwere, is fucky.
Tommy's system was still in overdrive from the week without his powers. Each message took a lifetime to come, dread and choking fear dragging lifetimes into eternities. The second David said lab, he was checking every one he could think of. When he gave a name, Tommy was there. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, but David's form played on the ground, a halo of blood blooming from his half-severed head wasn't it. The sword was forced into the tile, standing up and too familiar. White noise rushed in his ears as he dropped beside Nate and fumbled to tell Ash not to come. Nate asked if he should come. Tommy told him not to. That he needed to bring David home himself. His hands were shaking, so he dropped his phone and curled over David instead. The white noise grew into a roar in his ears, blacking out everything else. A hand touched his arm and he jerked, looking up, but his field of vision was gone for a second before it was back. He was alone, sitting up with David's hand in his. A scream echoed in his ears and he registered that Ash had found them. When Nate knelt beside him and shook him out of his stupor again, Tommy looked at David again to remind himself why he'd told him not to come in the first place. David's face was tipped a little towards him, the wound open and decisive, shining with blood. Something was gone, but he couldn't remember what it was. And David was dead.
