I-PRISM at IIT Hyderabad: Redefining Regenerative Integrative Systems Medicine Education
Introduction: India’s Skill Gap and the Need for a New Education Model
India stands at a critical juncture in its education and workforce journey. Repeated industry assessments, including inputs from NASSCOM and leading technology employers, have consistently highlighted a significant employability and job-readiness gap, particularly among graduates from engineering, healthcare, and emerging technology streams. The concern is not the lack of degrees, but the lack of interdisciplinary, application-ready skills required to solve real-world problems.
Dr. Polisetty Ravishankar
As Dr. Polisetty Ravishankar—a cardiac surgeon, technocrat (Python programmer), translational Ayurvedic researcher, and data scientist—I have spent more than three decades working across medicine, technology, and systems science. One conclusion has become unmistakably clear: the next generation of healthcare innovators cannot be produced through siloed education. Without structured exposure to medicine, systems biology, advanced data science, AI/ML, feature engineering, and real clinical translation, graduates remain academically qualified but innovation-unprepared.
India, however, has a unique and largely untapped advantage—an ancient systems-based medical science that inherently understands regulation, balance, and homeostasis. When this knowledge is carefully validated through experimental research and translated into rule-based scientific frameworks, it becomes a powerful foundation for modern regenerative medicine.
This realization led to the establishment of I-PRISM (Institute for Polyscientific Regenerative Integrative Systems Medicine), in academic collaboration with IIT Hyderabad, as a future-ready model for regenerative medicine education.
What Is Regenerative Integrative Systems Medicine?
Regenerative integrative systems medicine is a next-generation medical paradigm that focuses on:
· Systems biology and medicine
· Restoration of physiological homeostasis
· Regenerative and preventive healthcare
· Translational medical education
· Scientific integrative medicine
Rather than treating organs or symptoms in isolation, systems medicine education trains learners to understand disease as a dynamic, interconnected physiological process.
Why I-PRISM at IIT Hyderabad Is Distinct
I-PRISM functions as a polyscientific medicine institute, integrating:
· Academic rigor (IIT Hyderabad)
· Clinical translation (Novadigm Health)
· Advanced technology platforms (Docture Poly)
· Regenerative medicine courses
· Integrative systems medicine training programs
· Multidisciplinary medical education
· Interdisciplinary healthcare education
· Advanced medical science programs
