i think the most irritating thing about everyone deciding to cancel elliot is that i saw a post this morning about how it’s different that he cheated on lucille because he and lucas are, and i quote, “soulmates”
i think the problem right now is that mostly everyone has lost faith in the narrative and storyline to the point eliott could joke about breaking up with lucas if he doesn't do the dishes and people would actually be concerned about it being foreshadowing.
there's such a state of hysteria right now that people are quick to jump to conclusions, even if it doesn't make sense, and it's not a rational reaction, but it makes sense in their heads? think about this: most fans here, despite what they've shown in the past weeks, love the show and the characters, but they're so concerned the storyline will be ruined they try to beat the show to the punchline. it's rushed, and defensive, and people have stopped listening to each other. and it sucks.
i get where most of the negativity comes from (not everyone though, some people are just jackasses and 'fake woke's'), and i wish we could all take one breath and step back to see things more clearly but we're all so immersed in our own fear to avoid having it ruined for ourselves we've stopped listening to each other.
there's also a huge problem with the skam format, and as much as it is addictive, it's dangerous. nevermind that the word 'addiction' comes with negative connotations, but getting the episode clip by clip clouds our judgment like i've never seen. it's like we forget to see the bigger picture? so when the clip is happy we're all ecstatic, but when it's conflicting or controversial we think the worst of it.
it's not a 43 minutes episode we can enjoy in its whole, it's a 3 minutes clip where we'll focus all of our attention and inevitably hiperfixate. and hiperfixating? it puts these solidified ideas in our minds that leave no room for argument. and that's dangerous.
i guess it's what isak meant when he said that the reason why it's so good when it's good is also the reason why it's so bad when it's bad.
