fandom: haikyuu!!
characters: sugawara koushi, oikawa tooru [oisuga]
genre: romance, fluff
song: you in my heart by twice
I’ve been going through OiSuga x You In My Heart brainrot since last night, so I made a short fluffy piece (which you can read here after the break or on ao3) + this drawing!!
Will forever love soft OiSuga & I’ll gladly die for them skskskks
EDIT: I added a yellow and pink version!! Just because I’m indecisive as fuck lmao + I fixed the lineart on the purple one.
Koushi is the best stroke of luck Tooru has ever encountered in his life.
He would often think that he must have done something miraculous in his past life to be blessed with his partner. The past four years have been nothing short of warm and happy, all thanks to Koushi. Even to this day, Tooru would feel the familiar warmth blooming in his chest every time he lays his eyes on his Mr. Refreshing.
“You’re staring.”
His lover’s voice cuts through his thoughts, and Tooru finds curious hazel eyes looking at him from across the couch. It’s a slow Sunday night for both of them with Tooru idly browsing through his phone (well, he was) and Koushi reading a classic novel, legs tangled at the middle of the couch.
“I was just thinking,” Tooru feels himself smiling, “about how lucky I am to have you.”
“You’re such a sap.” Koushi teases, not without a blush creeping his cheeks.
“I’m serious.” Tooru moves to stand up, his ashen-haired boyfriend’s eyes following his movements. He extends a hand to him, and Koushi takes it, the pair quickly falling into an embrace. Tooru sighs, content. “I love you so much.”
Koushi laughs, and Tooru feels his heart about to combust as the sweet sound rings in his ears. He would never get tired of this, of Koushi.
“What’s with you?” His boyfriend raises his brow. “You’re being sweet.”
“I’m always sweet, Kou-chan.”
“Do you need something from me?”
“Kou-chan!” Tooru exaggeratedly exclaims. “I’m offended you think I’m like that!”
His shorter boyfriend laughs more, his arms not letting go of the shirt on his back. “You’ll be surprised at how sweet you can be when you’re needy.”
Tooru won’t deny that he can be needy. How could he not be? He couldn’t help himself from wanting more of his lover. He won’t stop wanting—needing—Koushi like a lifeline. And Koushi never falls short of making sure Tooru knew he was loved.
So, with every second of the day, Tooru makes sure to shower Koushi with all the love he deserves, since he’s received so much. He’d give him the world if he could, because Koushi deserves nothing less than that.
“Koushi, look at me,” Tooru coaxes, his hand cupping his lover’s soft, pale cheeks. Hazel eyes bore into chocolate ones, both sparkling with affection. “You and me, always, right?”
Koushi smiles, the corners of his eyes crinkling. “Always.”
With each movement, each gesture, Tooru always tries and tries and tries to make sure his boyfriend knows that he won’t be going anywhere. That he would always be here, cherishing him, loving him, and that he wouldn’t stop, ever. “I’m never going to leave you.”
“I know, Tooru.” Koushi’s smile is so bright, filling every crevice of Tooru’s soul with affection. “I love you, you sap.”
They hold their loving gazes for a bit before bursting out into laughter, warmth spreading throughout their home. Tooru’s happy that Koushi’s happy, and he would gladly do whatever it takes to keep what they have in his life forever.
I’ll only show you everything
The world reflected in my eyes
So it can be in your pretty heart forever
This took so many revisions, but I love how it turned out! Jackets are a pain to draw, and so are acid wash jeans (not to mention their hair, oh god).
This piece and the fic are totally self-indulgent, because it’s been two weeks since I pictured Oikawa and Sugawara going on a roller-skating date, I couldn’t shake it off.
That being said, find the fic here!
I also prepared a playlist and a pinterest board of the setting, since I wanted the vibe/imagery to be as vivid as possible (since I don’t think I can write it well), I was actually this close to drafting up a floorplan.
Like I said, totally self indulgent.
Here’s the plain drawing:
I also have a version where Oikawa’s in just a plain denim top, not the arcade-rug-pattern top! I grew to like the funky one, though!
I had totally different outfits planned for them, but those didn’t work out, so I hope this kinda does them justice! It was hard to capture something so retro but modern, so I’m sorry if it falls flat! I had so many tabs opened for men’s casual fashion in the 80′s, plus shows with an ambiguous timeline but are clearly retro inspired (Suga’s jacket is actually inspired by Otis’ from Sex Education). Oikawa’s outfit is inspired by this old photo of Brad Pitt (lmao) and this outfit of the guy in the middle.
Ugh, and it’s only a two-shot.
Like I said, totally self-indulgent.
Now that this is out of my system, though, I can move on to other fics (like I seriously have to)
though i was doing another project, i decided to browse through tumblr. i was brought to the aoba johsai au tag, after which i abandoned my other work for this one LMAO
this was supposed to be more detailed and serious and romantic, but
1) i cannot draw guys it’s a miracle i kind of pulled this off???; and
2) i cannot draw side profiles well.
though, that being said, i’m actually pleased with the outcome!
also, this piece is inspired by ridzakun’s pixel art! i love mischievous oisuga so much
fandom: haikyuu!!
characters: sugawara koushi, oikawa tooru, sawamura daichi [oisuga, mild daisuga]
genre: angst
song: exile by taylor swift
note: ...i got too worked up with this hehe. please listen to the song while reading to get the feels moving!
Koushi and Daichi had just finished watching a movie at his place, when they decided to grab a cup of coffee at a nearby cafe. It was another rainy day, but that didn’t stop them.
He was animatedly recapping the funny moments from the movie, getting Daichi to laugh, then he froze.
Tooru.
It was over a year ago since he last saw him. At some point in their three-year relationship, they started to drift apart. They ended nights without talking, they went days without seeing each other, until suddenly, they couldn’t hold it any longer.
They were yelling at each other, crying over things neither of them had brought up before. There were no third parties, no one to blame but themselves. The night ended with Tooru storming out of Koushi’s apartment with all his things, and Koushi dropping to the floor, sobbing, with nothing but the cold wall to embrace him.
(never learned to read my mind)
(you never turned things around)
(I gave so many signs)
They never talked to each other after that. Koushi had moved on well—he didn’t miss Tooru. He didn’t regret anything. He found Daichi again and fell in love. Tooru and Koushi were done. He was alright. Koushi was happy.
Then, he felt everything as if he was back in that same moment. Koushi was angry.
Why was he so angry?
I'm not your problem anymore
So who am I offending now?
Tooru looked at him the same way he did the night he left. Koushi wanted nothing but to scream at Tooru, like he did back then. He wanted to scream about the same unspoken things they had before Tooru walked out on the life they built together.
Tooru opened his mouth to speak, but Koushi realized that he didn’t want any of it. It was his turn to leave.
Taking Daichi’s hand, he walked past Tooru, not sparing him a second glance.

Of all the people he had to run into, it had to be him.
Koushi.
Tooru was out walking. It was raining, but he had to pick something up from the convenience store.
As he was walking back, he came face to face with his ashen-haired ex, who had been happily chatting with his new beau until they saw Tooru.
Here’s the thing, Tooru and Koushi’s breakup wasn’t the good breakup (if there ever was such a thing as a good break up). It was a mess of bottled up emotions, screaming and crying. There was no talk, no reconciliation, no closure.
I never learned to read your mind
I couldn't turn things around
'Cause you never gave a warning sign
After that, Tooru had stormed out of the apartment, not looking back. Months passed by without any contact from Koushi, not that Tooru was waiting for any.
Until now.
“Oikawa.” It was the boyfriend who spoke first, acknowledging him. He was Koushi’s best friend (who seems to have turned into his lover).
“Sawamura.” Tooru spat.
They were over. Tooru knew they were over. He didn’t live miserably after he and Koushi had broken up. He didn’t miss him or look for him. Tooru just moved forward. Tooru was okay.
Then, all at once, the emotions came crashing down. Tooru we was seething.
Why was he seething?
You're not my homeland anymore
So what am I defending now?
Tooru was about to yell at him again—like he did before he stormed out of their life—when Koushi shot him the same look he had back then, and walked past him. Neither of them looked back.
