Day 27: Movie/show/play MANGA Ruth would be great in

Classic me, I decide to choose none of those options and do my own thing because there’s this amazing manga...

Here me out.

Just change Dr. Kenzo Tenma (main character) from a Japanese man to a British woman but still set the story in Germany and with this you’ll have created the most riveting female anti-hero to ever grace the screen.

Other mangas that could work for Ruth if they were ever adapted:

- Claymore (truly deserves another run after the tradgey that was the anime)

- SkipBeat! (in my head it works)

Edit: Also, Ikigami would work.

I'm thinking you might also like "Ikigami" by Mase Motoro. During national vaccinations one in a thousand kids gets secretly injected with a nanocapsule that causes death between the ages 18-24, as per a law that's supposed to teach its citizens "the value of life". The story follows a character who's tasked with telling the injected they have 24 hours left to live. This message is called an "ikigami". The manga shows different people from different backgrounds dealing with the news.

Seems like Manga Rock did have it but it’s one of those manga that’s not loading for me anymore... has been happening a lot lately

In Episode 2 of Fire Force, the captain telling the little girl she won't spontaneously combust because her parents protected her from the fire reminded me of the manga Ikigami. There everyone is inoculated at birth with a nano capsule that will randomly kill some between ages 18-24.

One mother knowing she will die tries to get her little daughter away from the country before they can inoculate her. She fails and is caught. The main character comments that there hasn't been a case of both parent and child receiving an ikigami, so it seems unlikely.

The captain in Fire Force was probably bullshitting to make the girl feel better or maybe the probability of both parents and a child spontaneously combusting is low.
