đ„WORK
Ilani nodded at Captain Cherrybrick, who placed a briefcase of their own on the pedestal by the vial. With a snap, Cherrybrick released the catches and opened the case to reveal six dull, silvery metal bars. âSix ounces of ninety-nine-point eight percent pure palladium, courtesy of Varloc, Dragon of the Forge,â Ilani said. A searing light shone over the bars as the Envoy slowly passed his hand over them. âWe find this medium acceptable for the exchange,â he replied when finished. âPlease pass my compliments to Varloc for this excellent work.â With that, the briefcase shut seemingly of its own accord and deftly flew to the hand of the Thadan who had been waiting empty-handed. The other briefcase similarly left the hand of the Thadan to the Envoyâs right and settled itself on the pedestal.
đSCAN
Her companion was also an elf. His brown hair was short, and his eyes narrow as he continuously scanned the room. The person he was looking for, be it Riela or Rinnie, was nowhere in his sight yet. He had a staff propped up against his seat, but Riela would honestly be surprised if he didnât have other hidden weapons. They were sitting calmly at a table, having joined a game of cards. Riela noted with a grimace that it was one of her tables. Not that it mattered, she wouldnât be waiting it for long. And not because sheâd pawn it off to Sean either. âI see they want us to pull our weapons first,â Nathaniel observed.
âšENERGY
Rinnie needed to put a stop to the Priestess, more than anything. It would involve hurting people. It would involve putting herself out there with guns and the Teyrae Kyndagr. You have the power to stop them⊠A surge of confidence swelled through Rinnie and she stood up straight. Her breathing grew easier and she nodded, more to herself than anything. Then she stalked out of the kitchen, the energy around her fingertips surging, waiting to be used.
đȘTIME
She ducked out of the way and scrambled backwards, trying not to get herself in the way of Hestia again. The cleric, however, seemed to be preoccupied with Rinnie. Riela reached for one of her knives, only to find an empty sheath. Sheâd lost the first when Hestia had tossed it to the ground. The second was still in that bastardâs stomach. She hadnât had time to grab it back. Her third knife was not going to be easy to get to, so she grabbed a plate of potatoes off a still-standing table and threw it at the terrorist. He dodged it deftly and kept coming at her. He swung the baton down at her and she only barely escaped the motion. Unnecessarily, her instincts reminded her that if that hit her, sheâd be incapacitated.
