Headcanon that Ilya cuts all of his graffic ts to be mussel ts with a not quite cropped look. He's done this for so long that he's got it down to an art. Hes pretty dammd precise about them.

Shane cuts the tags off all of his clothes, he has sense he was a young kid, before that his mom would. He famously wouldn't where clothes when he was a toddler if the tag was still on.

Shane and Ilya, start sharing clothes alot once they become public with their relationship, Shane doesn't want to cut the tags off Illyas clothes but it really bugs him. One-day they are at a hotel or running late somewhere and Shane can't find one of his shirts and he knows that he won't be able to handle feeling a tag all day. Ilya (not knowing about the tag thing) tells him to just where one of his t shirts and that it's not a big deal the where each others clothes all the time. Shane breaks and yells something about how he really doesn't want to wear Ilyas clothes. Ilya like, wtf dude. Eventually Shane explains that he does love sharing clothes with Ilya but he never cuts the tags off his clothes and it bugs the shit out of him. Ilya is like okay bet. And that's how one more step got added to Ilyas new t-shirt routine.

Heterosexual people are turning fandoms of LGBT+ works (or works with queer characters) into uncomfortable places for LGBT+ people.

At least that’s what I see happening in the niche of fanfics (imagines) and on Twitter. They always use the fallacy of “it’s fiction,” as if that had the power of Jason’s punch in Friday the 13th Part VIII against the criticism raised by, guess who… LGBT+ people! Funny how that only happens when there are criticisms, because if it’s praise, suddenly fanfics are no longer trivial! Spare us.

Do you know about the upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights? One of the protagonists is described as having dark skin in the book, and do you know who they cast to play him? Jacob Elordi. And people commented. And, guess what… it’s fiction!

You can obviously write whatever you want, but if it’s public, people are going to talk about it.

And what about the dumb phrase: “but you guys turn straight characters into gay ones”… how many shots does a person need to drink to compare a minority to the socially accepted norm? Do you really think the homophobia LGBT+ people face their entire lives doesn’t influence the discomfort they feel when they see a character who represents them being stripped of their traits and regurgitated into an offensive fanfic? Well, that’s what happens! And a straight character’s heterosexuality? Does it carry that weight? Hmmm…

Something I’d love to see incorporated into more hollanov fics?

THE CELLY

The celly, or the celebration, happens when a player scores and is so deeply overwhelmed by being a good good boy at hockey that they have to physically show their excitement.

This can manifest in something as simple as a fist pump, or as complex as the heart breaker. Sometimes a player just falls to their knees and screams. Sometimes they just lift their hands to the heavens and wait for their teammates to mob them in a hug. Sometimes it’s a preplanned joke and sometimes it’s just a spur of the moment release of emotions

But it can be kind of a coin toss, depending on the player and the game and the era, if the celly will be seen as cool or showboating. Because the worst thing you can do in hockey is stand out, and players have been criticized in the past for their over the top, silly celebrations. Sometimes a player gets criticized for over celebrating a goal, and the other team takes it as an insult. And sometimes a celly that is once criticized turns into something all the kids want to do and it becomes cool.

The celly is something that’s so interesting to me because it’s a rare release of emotion and personality on the ice in a culture that is so determined to squash personality and emotion on the ice. A celly can be legendary or it can be corny. Depending on who’s talking about it, it can be seen as a statement, positive or negative.

And I believe in my heart and soul that Ilya Rozanov would hav the most obnoxious cellys in the league. Not just cause of who he’s inspired by, but I do also think he’d get the Ovechkin treatment of being accused of an obnoxious showboater as a rookie and then being celebrated for his personality in his later years like people hadn’t previously turned their nose up at him.

And I wonder how shane’s celly’s manifests. Is it a release of emotion or is it more restrained? Does he open up more with his cellys once he’s out? Much to ponder. Would love to see cellys incorporated more into fics!!!!!!!!!
