Prince Harry has extended his visit to Ukraine, leaving him and Meghan Markle spending a fifth day apart as his humanitarian work continues.

The Duke of Sussex flew into the UK on Monday before travelling on to Kyiv after an invitation from the Ukrainian Government.

Harry, 40, has not confirmed when he will return to California, where Meghan remains with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, meaning the couple are now apart for a fifth consecutive day.

The father-of-two said he wants to do "everything possible" to help thousands of military personnel seriously injured in the three-year war with Russia.

Accompanied by a team from his Invictus Games Foundation, Harry is announcing new projects to support the rehabilitation of wounded veterans and to expand sport-based recovery programmes across the country.

Ukraine’s Government estimates that about 130,000 people have been left with permanent disabilities since the conflict began, making rehabilitation a key national priority.

Speaking to the Guardian on an overnight train to the capital, Harry said: "We cannot stop the war but what we can do is do everything we can to help the recovery process. We can continue to humanise the people involved in this war and what they are going through.

"We have to keep it in the forefront of people’s minds. I hope this trip will help to bring it home to people because it’s easy to become desensitized to what has been going on."

The Duke explained that the visit was sparked by a chance meeting in New York with Olga Rudnieva, founder of the Superhumans Trauma Centre in Lviv, which treats wounded amputees.

He recalled: "I bumped into Olga in New York. It was a chance meeting, and I asked her what I could do to help. She said, 'The biggest impact you have is coming to Kyiv.'

"I had to check with my wife and the British Government to make sure it was OK. Then the official invitation came.

"In Lviv, you don’t see much of the war. It is so far west. This is the first time we will see the real destruction of the war."

Ukraine first entered the Invictus Games in 2017, but its involvement has taken on a new urgency since Russia’s invasion.

The competition, which Harry founded in 2014, provides an international sporting arena for wounded veterans. Reflecting on the Ukrainian team’s appearance at the 2022 games in The Hague, Harry said: "It was remarkable. Every one of the participants had a journey to get to those games, but nobody from any of the other competing nations was going back to war.

"That is why the Ukrainians stood out. Everyone felt an immense connection to them. Some of the competitors were being pulled off the battlefield and were going back to the battlefield. It means so much to us, because it means so much to them."

While in Kyiv, Harry is scheduled to meet Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and spend time with 200 veterans at the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War. The Invictus Games Foundation has also been supplying sports equipment and expanding local recovery programmes.

"One colleague in particular, who has worked in the industry for 25+ years and has a stellar reputation in getting along with everyone (or at the very least, being able to find common ground), has told me he’s “never met anyone like that” and if he were to cross paths with her again, on any another project, he would opt out rather than sign on. When she got with Harry, my colleague said H didn’t know what he was in for.

Another person I know less familiarly but we’ve talked shop in the past has said she is impossible to work with and makes everyone around her dizzy just to prove she’s in charge. Changing her mind, refusing to follow directions/suggestions, only “turning on” when the camera was on her, etc. A real drain suck for everyone else “less important” in the room. Again, would rather eat glass than have to work with her."

Another rebrand for Meghan Markle with her very very very very very very good author/college friend who she re-friended via Instagram. Instagram is a platform she hasn't used since Boomerang was a thing. 🤔

That’s 3 minutes of my life I’m never getting back. Courtney just answered a question about continuing on with family traditions that her children cherish and not surprisingly, Megs was dead silent during that part. But then Megs had to chime in with how difficult it can be to make tea for 6-8 people so she suggest having lots of self-serve options on the stove. Um, Meghan, your OWN COMPANY SELLS TEA!!!!

Plus she dragged out the old chestnut of how meeting people at the door barefoot helps put people at ease which is a) not true when your feet are as gnarly as hers are and b) a dig at William and Catherine because we know how stuffy and uptight they are.

Her whole take on hosting seemed to be very lazy, encouraging guests to help themselves to food and drink right from the stove.

There was also a comment about ‘you know how much I love fragrance” which I hope to god isn’t foreshadowing her launching a perfume. It’s a cheap way to get into the beauty sector, but there’s nothing about MM that makes me think I want to smell anything like she does 🤮

In the promo, we heard that the ILBW is nurturing a southern addition to her family of multiple personalities. Personally speaking as a true southern gal, hearing "y'all" come out of her valley girl mouth is an insult and another sign of anxiety and desperation. I imagine the many men (who dodged a bullet when she discarded them) breathing a collective sigh of relief each time someone in their group text shares the latest reason for them to drop to their knees and thank G-d for shielding them from a lifetime of hell on earth.
