Recently at a vintage market, I was very excited to find an old copy of the book "The Little Princesses." Written in 1950 by Marion Crawford, the childhood governess for Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, the book is filled with loving memory of her time with the royal family. Once considered a member of the family, "Crawfie" was completely shunned after she published her book. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother considered the book an unforgivable betrayal, and never spoke to Crawfie again. Here's an excerpt:
"One day I learned that King George V and Queen Mary were coming to tea. This was quite an unusual occurrence. The Royal Family visit one another very rarely, and seldom all meet en masse unless there is a coronation, christening, wedding or funeral in their midst. There is no dropping in and out on casual visits, or very little, though numerous notes are exchanged."
"The ordeal came nearer. I was not much good at curtsying in those days. It is an acquired art, as one is apt to topple. It takes practice. I went round the gardens, practicing assiduously to an English oak. Only later did I realize how suitable was my choice."
"Over the lawn by themselves came King George and Queen Mary, a truly stately couple. The King was then in his late sixties, a very imposing figure. Queen Mary looked taller than he because she had such a magnificent carriage.
"There was no one to present me. Queen Mary stopped, leaned on her ever-present folded silk umbrella, and said, 'You are Miss Crawford."
"I made my deepest curtsy, one to each of them, the King first. They looked me over with that long, now-becoming-familiar searching look. I remember I had an almost irresistible desire to say, 'Please, will I do?'
"Apparently I would. Queen Mary said nothing at all, but she smiled at me. King George grunted and prodded the ground with his stick. At first acquaintance, he was rather disconcerting. He had a loud, booming voice, rather terrifying to children and young ladies who didn't know him. After a moment, he said:
"For goodness sake, teach Margaret and Lilibet to write a decent hand, that's all I ask you. Not one of my children can write properly. They all do it exactly the same way."
"I like a hand with some character to it," he added, and walked away."
"They overawed me a little at the time. Later I was to have a very great love and affection for Queen Mary. There were many times when I went to her in trouble. She was always a rock of strength and wisdom to me, someone I could go to in moments of doubt and difficulty. There were to be plenty of both."
I don't know if this helps but someone made a Reddit post about the overlap. There are IG's pics from Meghan's and Cory's accounts that show they were both in Mexico in May 2016. Just scroll down a bit here:

I personally don't think they met in Canada in May, the dates simply don't line up. I have always believed, and still do, that Harry was introduced to Meghan by Marcus at Soho House if you get my drift. It wasn't a date, it was a paid assignation. Remember the story about how he saw her picture on a phone? The IG meeting story and Von lady matchmaker stories are just that, stories.
My tinhattiest theory is that they met in April 2015 at the Istanbul Soho House opening.
We know Meghan was there because she was photographed with Eddie Redmayne. We know Harry was in Istanbul at the same time, on a trip with Charles to commemorate the Gallipoli campaign- which is weird because the last time Harry plus-one'd his father's trip like this was in 1998. The rumors and gossip there is that Harry jumped on Charles's itinerary at the last minute to justify being in Istanbul since he had just been seconded to a four-week military training in Australia.
So I think they met and forked in Istanbul, then Markus pulled strings for the Invictus dinner in Toronto, and then Meghan chased Harry to London in July 2016 for the "blind date."
And more rumors/gossip, nothing ever substantiated, but allegedly Harry met Meghan three times before remembering who she was. Istanbul, Toronto, London = three encounters. Blind date = Botswana and Meghan had Harry hook, line, and sinker from there.
All allegedly, of course. Just rumors and gossip. Entertainment value only.
See now the Istanbul dates do line up. The biggest problem with this theory (for Harry and Meghan) is that it all but would prove that Harry hired her for the night. Rumors of Harry hiring prostitutes have existed for a long time, as has evidence of the Palace swooping in to cover up his one night stands with teenaged girls.
Tommy Inskip (Skippy) knows where all the bodies are buried and he is one person who knows the truth about how Harry actually met Meghan.

Kate was expecting, and they non-announced it at Trooping by her just appearing in the carriage with a baby bump. Camilla wasn't in the carriage - it was just Kate and the kids. William came riding out in the Sovereign's position, with Edward, Anne, Beatrice, and Louise accompanying. No Charles.
Then the dream fast-forwarded. I'm in London. I'm on the Mall with thousands of people, but I have a perfect view of the street in front of me. The gold carriage passes in front of me and I see William and Kate in it. It's William's coronation. I swipe my phone to take a picture and the date on my lockscreen is July 22, 2026.
I don't usually have vivid dreams like this. When I do, usually I'm under the influence of cold medicine (which I didn't take last night, but I am still suffering from lingering effects of the weird Frankenstein cold going around DC at the moment). But just thought I'd share, in case anyone else is having wacky dreams or just wants something non-Harkle to think about.
(I want to be absolutely clear here: I do not think Kate is expecting. I do not think she and William are having any more children. I think the pregnancy in my dream was a metaphor for how William and Kate will change the monarchy when he wears the crown.)
It hasn't even been twelve hours, but all three of us have been overwhelmed with requests from media for comment and I'm mostly writing this now so they'll leave me alone.
I only really knew Rob Reiner for one summer, in 1985, when we made Stand By Me. We only saw each other a handful of times in the last 40 years, and outside of those rare meetings, we only spoke a couple of times. Even though I haven’t spoken to him in years, I will miss him forever.
When I was turning 13, and realizing that my own father didn’t care about me, that my mother didn’t see me as a son, but as a thing she could put to work, Rob Reiner made me feel loved, valued, seen, and respected. He made sure I knew that I was important to him and his movie. He made sure I knew that he saw every actor he could for my role, and he chose me because he saw so much of Gordie in me. Back then, I didn’t know what that meant, only that he made me feel like I was enough.
When we shot the scene with Gordie and River at the body, he talked with me about how his own dad made him feel, created a safe place for me to feel all of Gordie’s (and my) emotions, and turn that into a performance that still resonates with audiences. In a way, in that movie, I was him and he was me and we were both Gordie LaChance. I was hoping that we would see each other next year, at something celebrating Stand By Me turning 40, so I could see him and properly thank him for everything he gave me — in my career, sure (it only exists because of Rob), but in my life, as well. If Rob hadn’t shown me unconditional affection and approval, I wouldn’t have known what I was missing at home. He was a big part of my coming of age in that way, too.
Ironically, tragically, I have felt closer to Rob in the last week or so than I have in a decade, because I essentially spent a weekend with the Rob I knew in 1985 when Jerry and Corey and I spent the weekend together, watching Stand By Me with a few thousand people who love this film the way we do. We spent entire days together in a tour bus, catching up on 40 years of life and work, and fondly remembering that one magical summer we spent together, that will tie us to each other for the rest of our lives. We talked extensively about how much we all loved Rob, and how much he loved us. We talked about how important it was to him that we got to be kids when we weren’t at work, how he organized screenings of Goonies and Explorers for all of us to watch together, how he made sure we all got to play.
Rob was a good person who put great art into the world, who made a positive difference in more lives than any of us can imagine. The world is a better place thanks to his activism and the way he chose to use all of his privilege and influence.
Rest in peace Rob and Michele. May their memories be a blessing.

Seems a bit early to be reading about any real choices.
A well-connected friend called me last week. “He’s going to Marlborough,” she said authoritatively. “They’ve sent letters out to parents.” She meant Prince George. After many years of debate, Prince George will – reportedly – go to Marlborough College next September, like his mother, aunt and uncle before him, and those with children in the same house have quietly been alerted. She could be wrong, my friend. This rumour mill has been churning for some time now, after all, with Eton and various others thrown into the mix, but she isn’t often wrong and treats gossip as solemnly as Oscar Wilde. So, Marlborough it may well be.
It's December 2025. The next school year starts in September 2026. Seems a bit early to be sending letters out to the parents. Wouldn't a better time be late spring before Easter? Or at the beginning of the summer term in late April?
Honestly, my first thought is that this is one of William's privacy tricks to see who leaks and to whom, and, well, we have our answer: "a well-connected friend" to Sophia Money-Coutts.
But one friend who does work in education sniffs that Marlborough now is “very monied”. This may sound an absurd accusation given that fees now hover around the £60,000-a-year mark for the top public schools in general. Except my pal insists that the monied tag applies more at Marlborough than plenty of other options. “It’s for very rich people who think they’re quite trad [traditional] and down to earth, but are completely delusional on that front,” he says. According to a mole, it’s also not very strong on phones and tech, “which is one of the things that William and Kate say they care about”. This mole says that Oundle – also rumoured at various stages, also co-ed – would have been more sensible. “It’s genuinely more grounded and properly strict on phones.”
Points for pointing out Will & Kate's possible hypocrisy "on phones and tech!" Oundle--another "public" school that is a little cheaper than Marlborough.
“I’d be crying into my cornflakes,” says Llewellyn. “That’s why I don’t think Simon Henderson at Eton will be crying. I think it is very difficult for the schools. It always has been. I was prep-school boy at Heatherdown where Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was, and I went back aged 18 to teach there and I taught Prince Edward. So I know something about the effects that the royals can have. They were much easier times. But in this world of social media, it’s very difficult.” Hats off, he adds, to the headmaster of Lambrook School in Berkshire, where William and Catherine’s children currently are, because “they’ve handled it all superbly”.
Which is why I have to wonder why Marlborough is allegedly sending out letters nine months in advance of George's possible attendance. What problem are they solving by sending out letters right now? Hard to imagine that these letters aren't just going to create more problems in the next few weeks.
She looked so beautiful that day. In some shots a little tired, but the dress was a stunner and the celebrations went on for days. This is actually my favorite royal wedding gown. Nothing has come up to knock it out of first place for me. An eternal classic. And so is she. ❤️🌹
Just for fun... my second favorite is Princess Margaret's wedding gown. What an amazing and royal presence she made on the day. And it was so forward and innovative, but completely elegant and covered. I adore it. The woman really knew how to make a statement. That tiara she wore said it all. Tough to beat.
Third favorite, and this is even as I am not a big fan of this princess personally right now, is Princess Eugenie. It was fantastic, magical, a complete fairytale, and everything you could ask for in a happily ever after gown. LOVED the Sleeping Beauty neckline and everything about the dress. The tiara was absolutely divine, and it really has become one of my favorites. So beautiful, I am certain it was hard for her to give it back. She never in her entire life looked better, just as it should be on this special day. Now I am going to share something I noticed that no one has ever talked about that I have seen... Ready for it?
Do any of you remember that she dyed her hair right before the wedding and there was a bit of chatter about it? Well... I am pretty familiar with wearing things like this and if you look closely at the pictures of the top of Eugenie's head and at the front you will see it. Her tiara is sitting on top of the hair pulled back behind the part. Yep, resting right on it. And the texture is quite thick as well. She was wearing a hairpiece topper that added into her bun. And it was one of the most clever I have ever seen. I am 99.9% certain. And it was perfect to pull off that tiara and look, creating one that could have graced a Disney movie easily...
Funny part is my second choice wore one as well. 😊
You would be very surprised at a couple of my not as favorite wedding dresses, although my opinion really is of no worth at all. 😁
I will give you a hint though... It was not Anne's first wedding. I went through the times back then although while younger, and I liked the regal medieval princess look. Same thing for Sophie, she did pull off something different, and the wispy silk and floaty veil was so lovely. I imagine in person it was even more ethereal.
Oh dear, guess I felt like talking about royal wedding dresses today. Ha.
At least I did not go into rating royal veils. 😉 My top favorites and then the bottom least favorite would absolutely shock some of you. I might even lose a few friends. 😉

Question: Is there currently tension between The King and Prince William?
I am looking for a Yes or No answer
This is a one card reading
Edited for formatting
As I was shuffling, a card flew out of the deck: Justice
The card is upright, which is a Yes answer to my question.
It is a major arcana card, which says this is a big deal. It is important.
Justice as a card itself is about things being just and fair, the legal system. about telling the truth, actions having consequences, accountability, cause and effect, being honest and having integrity.
On the card, the seated and crowned figure holds the Sword of Truth upright in one hand while the other holds the Scales of Justice, which are balanced to show that justice is even handed and comes to everyone alike, rich or poor.
The energy from this card tells me that the tension between The King and Prince William is caused by differing ideas of justice, or what is right and fair in a particular situation. One person wants accountability and consequences for actions, the other thinks that we should forgive and forget. One wants the truth to be told, the other thinks it is better if the truth is hidden for now, or if only part of the truth is told. The energy of the Sword of Truth is very strong here, as is the energy of consequences and holding people accountable for their actions.
If I had to give an example of how the tension feels, and it is only an example drawn from what has been reported in the past, then I would say that The King wants to welcome Harry home as the Prodigal Son, forgive and forget all the hurt he has done, cover up his messes and not have any consequences for his actions or only small, private ones, while Prince William is saying no, Harry hurt people, he has to face the consequences of what he has said about people and what he has done to people, and the truth needs to be told to the public and not swept away under a cover of 'forgive and forget, so don't talk about it'. It is the tension between two opposing and incompatible viewpoints, with neither side being willing to support the other point of view.
With that as the background energy, let's look at the reading itself.
Card drawn: Judgement
This is another upright major arcana card, so another yes to the question and another indication that this is an important issue.
Judgement is about judging people, or being judged, about having a purpose/principles and standing by them, about being strong in your purpose, about having a reckoning for past actions, and about second chances.
It is also a death card. It represents Pluto, which is the modern ruler of Scorpio, the star sign of King Charles.
I am getting two energies from this card.
The first energy is that of death, The King is nearing the end of his life and he is trying to put his affairs in order before he passes. There is an energy here of being judged - by the public or by history, perhaps by a higher power - and of wanting to look good, to do the right thing, to be judged and found to have merit.
The second energy is of judging someone, and this is where the tension comes in. As for the Justice card, I get the energy of two opposing points of view here. One wants to give a second chance, no questions asked, and the other, while not entirely opposed to the idea of a second chance, says that before that happens there must be a reckoning for past actions - the person must face judgement and atone for their past sins. Both sides have principles or ideas behind their viewpoint that they are not willing to compromise.
Underlying Energy: The Five of Pentacles
This is the card of exile, of being cut off from things, of poverty and hardship, of loss and feeling abandoned, of being in disgrace. It is also a marriage card.
Given the above, the tension between The King and Prince William is about someone who is in exile, disgraced, has lost all their money etc. It could be Andrew, but it is more likely to be Harry.
The energy of marriage is coming through here. Part of the reason for the opposing viewpoints is something to do with marriage - Harry wants to return with Meghan, The King doesn't want anything revealed until they are divorced, the children as products of the marriage - it is one or more of the above or something else, soething about marriage is threaded through and tangled up in this problem, and The King and Prince William have completely different views on how to deal with it.
Conclusion
Taking the three card together, there is definitely tension between The King and Prince William, and that tension seems to concern Harry - should he be given a second chance, and if so, what consequences (if any) should he face for his actions, does that second chance include his wife, and what do we do about his alleged children? The King and Prince William have differing and opposing views on this topic. The views on Prince William's side are rooted in his views about honesty and accountability, while The King appears to be basing his views on ideas of unconditional forgiveness, and neither side is prepared to support the other person's point of view.
Bonus Question: Is Prince William missing the Christmas Lunch at Sandringham because of his conflict with The King?
Card that flew out while shuffling: The Hanged Man
This is a yes. Prince William is refusing to sacrifice himself. He has a different perspective on the matter with Harry than his father and he is putting his own peace and wellbeing first.
Card Drawn: Six of Swords
This is a yes to not having Christmas lunch at Sandringham. The Six of Swords is about moving away from a troubled situation into calmer waters, travelling to a different place, putting distance between you, accepting a situation and moving on. This is exactly what Prince William is doing - accepting that he and his father disagree on this matter, moving on, and putting distance between them so he can enjoy his Christmas peacefully rather than rehashing the issue yet again.
Underlying Energy: The Hermit
This is the card for Virgo, Prince Harry's sun sign, so a confirmation that this tension between Prince William and The King is about Prince Harry.
The Hermit is also the card of withdrawal, being by yourself, and solitude, which confirms that Prince William is spending Christmas by himself, with his family, rather than joining the larger family group.
As part of his leasing arrangement, Andrew could have been entitled to £488,000 for an early surrender of his 75-year lease but reports are the property is dilapidated and needs repairs that in "all likelihood" Andrew "will not be owed any compensation"...
Sooooo. Here is my take on the mess that this is. I am guessing it will surprise some as to my thoughts. This man was the son of a legendary Queen. And additionally, of a family of great wealth. I am actually guessing of even greater wealth, fortunes, and holdings than they let on. He merited some sort of property, albeit I have no idea why one was not purchased for him outright. What I also do not get is why he was granted this place from Crown holdings, but not an apparent actual inheritance to properly maintain it. Let me go further with the thought...
No, I am not standing up for him. Yes, I think his entitlement from his upbringing is beyond rampant. But the attempts to circumvent certain laws and taxes and the milking and squeezing of what I believe is a vast fortune by the BRF is not particularly a great look from the cheap seats. In which I am still sitting in. And always the observer, and watching the show. 🙄

The Princess of Wales looked resplendent in a rarely-seen royal tiara and glittering Jenny Packham gown as she joined husband Prince William at the German state banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday night. Kate Middleton made her debut in the Queen Victoria Oriental Circlet Tiara, a treasure from the royal collection that was created by Garrard for Queen Victoria in 1853 under the direction of her beloved husband and consort, Prince Albert. The piece was beloved by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, but was only worn once by Queen Elizabeth II and has only been seen a handful of times in recent decades.
It proved the perfect finishing touch for her sparkling gown – a dazzling, ethereal creation by go-to designer Jenny Packham. The gown featured a dramatic slashed neckline, sequin skirt and elegant cape. Meanwhile, Prince William was dapper in white tie.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were also at their elegant best for the banquet, which was held at Windsor Castle while construction work continues at Buckingham Palace. The formal dinner is the centrepiece of a three-day state visit to the UK by the President and First Lady of Germany.
Undoubtedly, though, all eyes were on Kate's breath-taking headpiece. The tiara moment is particularly striking as Kate tends to favour the Lover's Knot tiara. Her decision to wear another piece from the royal collection is unusual, and could perhaps signal a new chapter in her royal life.
'The Oriental Circlet was originally set with a collection of opals, one of Albert’s favourite gemstones, and 2,600 diamonds,’ Garrard explains. ‘Later, believing that opals were unlucky, Queen Alexandra replaced them with rubies. However, the magnificent, Indian-inspired design of lotus flowers and Mughal arches remains largely the same today as when it was first created.’

Five years after it was commissioned, the tiara was returned to Garrard for alterations. A small space was added to the back so tat it was no longer a complete circle. However, Queen Victoria never had the opportunity to wear the tiara again. Shortly after it was returned to the royal collection, Prince Albert fell ill and died unexpectedly at the age of 42. Queen Victoria was heartbroken and spent the remaining 40 years of her life in mourning. She chose to wear black ensembles and replace her colourful gems – like those in the Oriental Circlet Tiara – with mourning jewellery.
The stunning tiara was inherited by Victoria and Albert's daughter-in-law, Queen Alexandra. However, she had different ideas about the stones that should take pride of place. Owing to superstitions, she chose to replace the ‘unlucky’ opals with a collection of Burmese rubies given to Queen Victoria as a gift from the ruler of Nepal in the 1870s. Garrard notes, ‘It is also noted in our Royal Ledger that while the opals were being replaced, some of the arches were also removed to make the tiara smaller. Despite this, she is believed to have only worn it once on a state visit to Germany.’
The Oriental Circlet was not seen in public again until it was passed to Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother in 1936. ‘Photographed wearing it on numerous occasions, it quickly became one of her favourite jewels,’ notes Garrard. ‘When the celebrated British photographer Sir Cecil Beaton captured portraits of the Queen in 1939 following her husband King George VI’s accession to the throne, in 1950 to mark her 50th birthday and in 1953, just a few weeks before the coronation of her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, she chose to wear the Oriental Circlet each time.’ ‘After the death of King George VI in 1952, the tiara should have passed down to Queen Elizabeth II. However, realising how much her mother loved the piece, she allowed her to keep it. When the Queen Mother passed away in 2002, Queen Elizabeth II inherited the Oriental Circlet. She wore it only once during her reign, on a trip to Malta in 2005.’
It means the tiara is one of the lesser-seen treasures in the royal collection. The Princess of Wales has long favoured the Lover's Knot tiara. Her decision to wear the Oriental Circlet is a major moment.

The state banquet comes at the end of a busy day. In a sign of their importance when it comes to matters of diplomacy, Prince William and Catherine were the first royals that the visiting Presidential couple met before they were formally welcomed by King Charles and Queen Camilla at the Royal Dais on Datchet Road. Queen Camilla was matching with the Princess of Wales, opting for a blue coat and a sapphire brooch that was beloved by Queen Elizabeth II, who received it following her accession to the throne.
After arriving at the Quadrangle, a Guard of Honour gave a Royal Salute, and the regimental band played the British and German National Anthems for the group of six. The King and the President inspected the Guard of Honour, before the group viewed the military Rank and March past.
After that, it was time for lunch, as members of the royal family gathered in the State Dining Room for a meal with their German guests, ahead of a tour of a specially-designed exhibition of items from the Royal Collection with a link to Germany in the Green Drawing Room. President Steinmeier then journeyed to No. 10 Downing Street for a meeting with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and a group of British and German business leaders. Meanwhile, the First Lady was in South East London, where she will tour the Judith Kerr Primary School, which is named in honour of the German-born British writer of The Tiger Who Came to Tea. The literary link would not have been lost on Queen Camilla, who has long made literature one of her signature royal passions.
Plenty to discuss, then, at what many will consider to be the highlight of the visit: the State Banquet. King Charles and Queen Camilla were in attendance, with both the King and the President set to deliver speeches before the meal commences. This is not the first state banquet that the King and Queen have enjoyed alongside the German head of state: the royal couple travelled to Berlinin March 2023 for their own state visit, where they were guests of honour at a banquet at Bellevue Palace.
The second day of the state visit will see the President and the First Lady make a private visit to St George’s Chapel, where they pay their respects to the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II, laying flowers in tribute to the late monarch. The King and the Queen will then host a reception alongside their Big Help Out charity, which is set to showcase the vital role that volunteering can play in communities.
There’s credible gossip around several socials, including SMM, that Meghan “drove” the shoot and made creative demands that Harper’s and the photoshoot team had no choice but to comply.
Guarantee you absolutely no one is happy with the result. Meghan wanted to look powerful and carefree (hence not wearing any makeup at all or looking styled in the photos) but instead of looking like a lifestyle “she has it all and doesn’t so effortlessly” tycoon, she looks like an escapee from Grey Gardens.
