You can feel your palms start to sweat as your grip tightens on the handle of your spear. You’re heart is racing, causing the pounding in your head to deafen the usual voice of reason nestled in the back of your mind and even your vision seems to blur the longer you try to sort through the chaos of your thoughts.
You can barely make out the face of the seadweller through the blood pouring from the gash in his head. Broken and struggling to stand, the once large and terrifying figure has been reduced to a almost nothing….and you’re not sure what to do.
In your mind, a thousand memories bombard your judgement from every direction until you’re sure you’ll go insane. This is the troll that hurt you. This is the troll that made you suffer. This is the troll who never saw you as anything more than a sacrifice for his own gain…..and this is your chance to end it once and for all….
The voice in your head screams, begging for the mercy in your heart to reemerge, but for the first time in your life, another voice finds its way above the noise. A voice that whispers the sweet song of revenge….
You step forward on legs almost too weak to carry you and look down at what was once the source of your nightmares. He looks up at you with a vicious stare and for once you feel no sympathy creep into your heart. How dare he not show some form of fear….How dare he not beg for his life like he made your beg so many times before….
Anger swells inside you like a rush of venom through your veins and with a single, angry cry, your raise your weapon high and plunge it deep within his chest.
Your eyes shut tight as the sound of his final moments echo through the room. He struggles and thrashes, convulsing desperately, but the will of your anger keeps you steady and finally he falls still and silent….
Your hands fall away from the hilt of your spear….and you take in a ragged, trembling breath….
