I was just trying to let you know that the way you phrase things does not encourage students of color and students not of color to work together to solve racial issues. I tried to be as polite as possible and found your response surprisingly rude. I think you have a lot of intelligent things to say but more people would listen to you if you weren't so aggressive and were more open to discussing rather than arguing. I'm sorry if what I said somehow offended you.
My previous answer didn’t even have the intention of arguing with you, because when a person comes to this blog saying that we are being racist to white people, my attention span and interest in caring about your feelings, drops to be 0 K. Which is absolute zero, for my followers who aren’t science savy, or just forgot this detail, and if my metaphor doesn’t make sense, what I’m saying is that I could not possibly care less.
Your ask was so demeaning, and so entitled in the sense that you actually thought this blog was here to serve any white person who happens to come by it. Again, this blog is here to serve as a space for QT/POC at Vassar to rant and find solidarity. It’s not here to serve as educational tool for good white well to do people at Vassar (or elsewhere). We aren’t here to educate you or to convince people to listen to us.
Don’t tell us what to do and don’t tell us that we would be a lot more progressive if we calmed down. Especially because just telling us to have a more agreeable tone doesn’t change any of the circumstances which make our personhood disagreeable. And we are really tired of saying: This Blog Is Not Here To Educate You. We’re not here to help anyone on thier path to consciousness. We’re writing for ourselves and people like us who are silenced in their anger in every moment of their lives. Our anger is valid and real, and we are going to let it out. If you think its is too off-putting to deal with, then leave stop visiting the blog.
If listening to truths is impossible simply because we’re not holding your hands and coddling you, then really, you suck at being an ally. These truths are hard to fucking handle. But guess what? So is living under a white supremacist, heterosexist, cissexist, ableist, racist, trans/homophobic (etc) regime. So sorry not sorry if we hurt your feelings, or if my response was “surprisingly rude."
