Started working on a piece that I previously painted over the other day. It felt slightly weird today. My awesome neighbor @hilaryclementartist helped me out once I started feeling frustrated with "smaller" sized canvases. My other work that I shared recently just felt awkward at 30"x48". I'm enjoying what I created but it felt stunted with the width it has. I'm working out the issue by cutting into the shape and it's starting to look better. This new #wip measures 48"x60" and she is already cheering me up! "Was I on your mind" is finally coming together. It's the initial process of laying the color layers in their raw shapes that still throws me off. Cutting into the shape really helps the focus to become a continuous movement across the canvas for this painting. Almost the same size as a box of chocolates when stacked together but oh so much better. I discovered so many ideas and textures creating these #tinypaintings. The top left one, Color Wonder, was the first in the sub series and expanded my idea of what the #molecularseries could be. Subtle & bright. I'm trying to figure out what was going through my mind when I made and paired these colors together. The difference between them and what's been created in so far is so stark. I found myself slightly bemused with my studio today. I thought that I had straightened up my desk but it was covered in paint tubes and my favorite palette covered in dried paint.
