Mickey’s Illusion Manor model
[Illusion Manor - ‘Vive la Vie’ Parade Disneyland Paris]
Can you feel the autumn breeze now?
Okay seriously y’all are talking about Henry and Mélanie but have you ever took a good look at the parade float itself?
It’s called Illusion Manor and made its debut in 2018. Which, if you know anything about how DLP handles its parades, means that it will be used for at least a decade :P
Not only it looks like they took the actual Manor, turned it into a cartoon version of itself and then dumped a bucket of cosmic glitter slime on top of it, but it comes with special effects too!
The lights in the windows flicker according to the beat, a fog effect leaves a cool spooky trail behind it as it moves and Mickey enters from the front door only to immediately reappear on the balcony wearing different clothes :D
The base covered in orange leaves nicely complements the general autumnal theme of the parade, helping Illusion Manor to fit in with the rest of the not-so-scary floats that precede it. Since Halloween isn’t nearly as popular in Europe as it is in the USA, Vive la Vie (French expression that translates to ‘hooray/hail/glory to life’) is more of a Harvest celebration that ends with a spooky ball at the local haunted manor on the hill than a full-on Halloween parade.
We’re starting the party, come see! The sun will shine on us all Let’s celebrate the harvest Everyone, everyone, have some fun Vive la Vie!
And let me be honest, even as a huge fan of Boo to You, I wouldn’t want it any other way >:]
DLP Report added a new photo.
I know people really wanted to see Mélanie and the Phantom come back this year but... we knew it was very unlikely.
And to be honest, I think they couldn’t have chosen a better replacement (well, at least for Henry :P) and to my inner Don Rosa fangirl (who totally took some inspiration from the Life and Times comics when thinking about my own PM headcanons) this is quite funny to see ;)
I am a ride or die Boo to You fan but that DLP parade looks awesome! Are there any good quality videos of it on youtube?
This one is great <3
Boo to You jumps from one theme to the other... from Princesses, to Pirates to the Haunted Mansion, to Cowboys to the Country Bears, then some Pixar stuff and THEN brings in some classic villains... but again, it is to be expected since that’s what Halloween is in the US, with people dressing up as monsters and characters from different time periods and media. As long as the costumes are spooky, they’re all welcome ;).
Vive la Vie, on the other hand is all about a harvest festival taking place in the countryside which is something most Europeans are familiar with since many of our rural cities host similar events throughout the year, where you can eat traditional food, buy hand-crafted goods and so on.
Overall, DLP’s parade is shorter and has less floats and performers than Boo to You but it features a quite long dance show that everybody freaking loves and that is included in the video.
Enjoy!
