After a rainy morning cleared, I joined rugby friends to watch USA vs. Japan women’s rugby at UCLA—on the same field I played on decades ago. The match featured a delayed kickoff, a surprise sprinkler incident, and Japan’s historic 39–33 win over the USA. Though only a few fans supported Japan, we later met rugby stars Alev Kelter and Ilona Maher & her sister, Olivia, capping off a memorable and meaningful day.
