• BIOGRAPHY •

Born to Émilie Lestrange, and Adrick Gregorovich, Ilya was the younger of two cousins born within the same months. Growing up, he was taught of what might become his buisiness one day. And of the expectations for a pureblood heir. It was during his earlier years that his parents arranged a marriage between him, and the Banelis's daughter, Nadia. Neither of them wanted the marriage, but by the time they started schools, they had become friends. Attending Durmstrang he excelled in his courses, and joined the Quidditch team as a chaser. And it was during his tenure as a student that his uncle, father and grandfather decided that he, not his cousin Anton, would inherit.

Ilya travelled to Hogwarts during his sixth year for the tri-wizard tournament, as Karkaroff's aid, (that's not to say he liked Karkaroff of course.). At the end of the year, he travelled back to Durmstrang and graduated the next year. Marrying Nadia, and having their son within the next year, Ilya pent much of the two years after his graduation caring for, and preparing to move to Britain to take over the Gregorvich shop in Diagon Alley.

A workaholic at best, Ilya is a sarcastic human being with an interest in history, and knows far more than anyone suspects, or wants him to. He has limited interest in any long term relationships (Nadia doesn't count, she's a lesbian, and he's gay) but happy enough to sleep with various people, Ilya spends most of his days (and more nights than he would prefer) working, sending letters to Nadia, and when he can, flooing back to Lithuania to see his family, some of the only people he is affectionate towards.

During Ilya’s time in America, he mentioned Jason enough in his messages to Nadia that she had started to suspect that maybe Jason had found a way into her best friend’s iron clad heart. (There was no worry of being replaced). She does decide to take Alexei and go crash Gotham though. There’s really no good way for Ilya to introduce Nadia and his son to Jason. (Alexei is like five at this point).

Oh yes! There is much shipping to be down for.

Not Tim, but in some extent I think the other three that you write with.

Ilya’s would be a more slow to develop, friend of necessity, followed by actual legitimate friendship, followed by his go-to, friend with benefits. (There’s a bit of a trend here, with Ilya avoiding emotions). Denial, and then actual, somewhat tentative romance. Nadia, his bests friend/wife, would absolutely love Jason, she’d find the idea that he got Ilya into a relationship utterly hilarious. (Their marriage is, as far as their families are concerned, perfect. To them, it’s the barest of technicalities. He’s gay, she’s a lesbian).

Icarus would be the accidental, ‘everyone thinks we’re dating but we aren’t, right?’ trope, until he realizes that yes, they’ve been dating in everything but name for three months. It’s also at that point he realizes that he hasn’t thought about Apollo in that time, and that he looks forward to quiet nights at his apartment, or one of Jason’s safe houses with either take out or a cooked meal and a movie. He isn’t throwing himself at the nearest suicidal opportunity to die. But yeah he’d realize that he’s in love with Jason all at once, because he really just didn’t notice the signs until that point.

And Michael. Oh yes. He is already at least a little in love with Jason, I think. Jason cares about him, isn’t afraid of him, in the one thread, he’s worried enough about the threat of Michael being killed to both text him, and offer him a place to stay. He won’t say anything because the idea that Jason could like him back is ridiculous, it would never happen. Not him, Jason is so much better. He deserves someone better. Michael would in a heartbeat take up a mantle to go into the streets to make sure Jason didn’t get himself shot. It might take a bit for Michael to stop seeing himself as an unlovable monster (months of an emotionally manipulative relationship would give anyone issues). I think part of Michael has had at least a bit of a crush on Jason since the night they met if I’m honest.

(I would be so down for an AU with J and M where they meet on the street as kids and are like, childhood sweethearts, or as close to as they get in the circumstances when Jason is adopted. They lose contact, Michael sees that Jason does tragically, etc, etc, and meet years later after Jason has come back as the Red Hood).

Growing up, there was an unbelievable amount of expectation on him. When he graduated he would marry Nadia, and produce an heir, regardless of personal preference. His mother and father expected excellence, and his inheritance was hinged entirely on which cousin was chosen to take over. Anton was and idiot, but he was the older cousin, and so tradition dictated that he was the expected heir. And then of course, he wasn’t.

When Alexei came, Ilya decided that while he would teach his son to take over the company, he wouldn’t push him in the same way. There would be no expectation of marriage, or of perfection. Alexei would inherit, beyond that, he wanted his son to be happy. Ilya had gotten lucky, he would much rather provide his son with the skills needed to succeed,rather than hope that he would flourish.

1. Ilya gets motion sick when it comes to Muggle transportation. It’s why if he travels it tends to be by floo or another magical method.

2. He still has a Slavic accent, but it’s not anywhere near as strong as his father or his grandfathers. The handful of years in Britain was a large part of that.

3. Ilya didn’t marry for live, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t absolutely adore his son. He doesn’t get back home nearly as often as he’d like, but he does floo home as frequently as he can.
