the strangest thing just happened to me . . . i passed by a car wreck not too far from my house, and two thoughts appeared in my head, one that feared for their safety, and one that yearned to view the dead body in the vehicle. it wouldn't be my first time to view gore, but the aftermath of a human life taken? that ive never seen. my body instinctively looked, and it was empty. they were fine. i breathed a sigh, from relief or disappointment, both? im not sure.

i wish no one would die. it feels so wrong to feel this way. i am only allowed to feel this way because im privileged enough to not experience excessive violence. i doubt if i had truly experienced the horrors of life, i would have this perspective. i am lucky. i am lucky. so so lucky. i keep telling myself that.

i do not wish for the pain of others and yet i hope to view it, as it is inevitable. what a strange thing.
