I like the idea that post-Endgame and, under First Splinter Timeline, post-To Lose the Earth, Chakotay finally gets to pursue his little anthropology/archaeology interests and teaches that area of study at Starfleet Academy. Probably keeps close to home as the kids are growing up, same with Kathryn haha I bet they'd both be more enjoyably stationed on Earth for a time. Ummm but yeah I love that Chakotay went from tactical to command and HYPOTHETICALLY to the sciences. :) Just a well rounded little fella.

Ummmm and I'd wanted to draw Liam with Sneakers who is a green and purple stuffed mouse that Kathryn had as a kid. Contextually Kathryn got it from her father because he'd be away for long stretches of time.

I didn't get the most sleep last night cause I saw a post about a Twitter thread stating how 'awful' it was that aspiring writers 'cut their teeth' on fanfiction and that it teaches horrible habits and its bad for queer lit apparently etc etc etc so I stayed up till 3 or 4am fucking fuming.

But dear God was it validating and cathartic when I told my good bud who is a freelance editor, and who knows her shit, about it and then hearing her bi ass go off about how cold of a take that is considering fanfic is 100% an excellent way to practice your craft and get critique/feedback while building confidence and maybe even a following. How she is on the frontline of seeing what people want to publish, both good and also a lot bad, and how she actually uses fanfic as a break from all the poorly written shit she has to go through because, despite what elitist 'fanfic is universally trash and useless and harmful' weirdos think, there are a substantial amount of fics that are better than a lot of published writings.

Writing is not some mythical art that can only be taught in classes and is only validated by a price tag being put on it. Just like other forms of art and other hobbies, it takes practice. Are there some things fanfic won't help you develop? Potentially, depending on what you tend to write and how you go about it, but can it help you practice and learn if that is what you're after? Can it help you become a better writer if that's what you want?

Absolutely. And Im fucking tired of elitist 'untainted by the deplorable fiction of fans as Papa had once made me promise to always be' writers telling their aspiring fellows that the work and effort they put into crafting their stories is meaningless and actively harming them just because it's 'fanfiction'.

Prompt #7: Forgiven ♪ Mentions @mazinkhin

"Even if you abandon your sorrow and violate your mind, would this truly satisfy you?" Those words ringed inside her horns as she woke up, her memory caught nothing from that distant dream besides that pitch-black scenery, and how awfully familiar that voice sounded.

Her eyes widened as the air filled her lungs, and she could feel the cold sweat dripping from her cheeks; that rushed heartbeat reminding her of the constant nightmares that appeared so distant now after the procedure with Valentin. Those bright yellow eyes scanned around the unfamiliar room until her hand caught some kind of warm next to it, the source was no other than Mazin, and soon she recalled where she was.

Didn't take long for her eyes to adjust to that darkness, the exhaustion from that day still lingering in her body as her eyes seemed to ache for waking up in such a swift way. A long sigh escaped her nostrils as she rubbed slightly swollen eyes over and over, eventually letting her hands rest under the blankets, those still tired eyes turned to Mazin, quietly watching the elezen sleep as the reminiscences of that day slowly came back to her.

And how it pained her so, easily shattering and losing control, putting him in danger as soon as they met again after so long, being this... pathetic self, crumbling and weak, "Stop apologizing. It's all over now." His words repeated in her head whilst she lost count of how many times she apologized that night, even if he meant that; could she truly feel forgiven? After going against all he said, putting them both in danger. Foolish, idiotic.

A groan escaped her mouth as her fingers met her eyes again, rubbing away tears that rolled out of her own anger, "We are still here..." She mumbled quietly to herself, quiet enough that it almost didn't sound as words as her sniffles suppressed it even more. Took Alun a minute to calm down, getting a long deep breath before staring almost comically serious to the ceiling, peeking towards Mazin once more to be sure she didn't disturb him ― he seemed to be asleep, which was good enough.

Another sigh as she exhaled before lazily letting her weight fall back to the bed, careful to not hit him with her horns by accident. Quietly, she stared at that ceiling for another minute before turning to the man beside her, eyes still aching and burning ― and yet she admired him even more after that long day. Her hands slowly reached to his, gripping lightly, quietly as she intertwined her fingers with his. Moving her face closer to their hands seeking some kind of comfort as she soon would fall back to sleep, a little more hopeful, and maybe starting to forgive herself.
