Is Imu going to be hot?
Yes
No
Yes but in a way that’s hot only to specific people
Before we get an Imu face reveal I thought we should vote on whether Imu’s going to be hot or not. With one piece villains it can really go either way.
I don't usually post about One Piece (even if I would love to post about it more) but One Piece lately has been nothing but incredible & this latest chapter has reinforced that thought I had about this arc since it started...
...but the reason this time is different from seeing characters you haven't seen in years enter the action or taking the front stage in the story over the Straw Hats.
It's about this panel.
One Piece has never really been a scary manga, it has never scared me before until this panel. It is just terrifying to look at... We had great villains in OP before & for many different reasons but there hasn't been one villain (at least for me) that has been frightening just by the thought or sight of their mere presence like Im has. We know that they are the king of the world at this point, that is terrifying on it's own but that's not just what is terrifying here even if it still factors in the fear aspect of that panel.
No, what is terrifying here is that they look like a literal predator here, their eyes watching you (which are also very creepy looking), ready to strike at any point. Im unlike other villains so far, even the more powerful or serious ones in the series, means business, but like ACTUAL business. Like we had examples of what they are capable of, like what they did with Lulusia, they are deadly & you understand that very well. They want to stay in power & will go to any length possible to stay in that power. They even feel different from the Five Elders who are already threatening in their own way, Im doesn't look like they would make as much compromise or show mercy as the Five Elders could. They feel like a true threat in the story.
& the fact Im looks like a living shadow also plays in that aspect that they are untouchable and you can't quite get what they are. Are they even human or some other race or being in One Piece that we currently know ? It's just impossible to know because there is really no features from that character that can give us a hint about what they are. Almost supernatural in a way, and I don't mean that in a good way.
Im just gives me the creeps & you know the story is getting serious when they appear at some point in the story. & the fact we know Cobra died (which we know Im is definitely behind it now) yet I can still get frightened by their presence speaks level about Oda's talent as a storyteller.
Edit: To add to what I said:
The fact that some of the gards in the Pangaea Castle dissapear, clearly because of Im & in whatever room they were at the beginning of the Reverie, adds to the walking mystery aspect about them. No one apart from a very few people know about their existence or some people are straight up thinking it's a legend & all of it is not real. They are even a threat to their own allies or people serving under them.
Im has been there looming all over the story since the beginning, & the first hints of their existence was during the Dressrosra arc when Doflamingo was talking about the secrets he knew about the World Government. But there's probably other hints that Oda putted out there that we haven't even noticed yet... It lets you know how much influence they have on the story & how big of a deal they really are to be prepared for that long and for so many years by Oda.
Gorosei: “Ok, Cobra. You inexplicably have our attention. What is it that you wanted to privately discuss with us that you couldn’t tell the other kings and queens?”
Cobra: “Well, I’ve been doing a bit of research-”
Gorosei: “Think carefully before you finish the next sentence about what you’re going to say. And what we’ve said about ‘private discussion’.”
Cobra: “Oh, Okay. Yeah, so as I was saying, I’ve been doing a bit of family research and....the government was founded by 20 kings, right? But our family chose to rule in the lower world while the rest came here. So, I actually know the name of my ancestor who was around during that time...Queen Lili-”
Gorosei: “Okay, so right now we’ve been going over public information. Unless you want to press on a point that, well, isn’t. Again, I’d exercise caution before saying anything more if I were you.”
Cobra: “Again, thanks for the tip. So, The Nefertari family refused to live here, and remain in Alabasta. But I found no record that ever Queen Titi came back to Alabasta.”
Gorosei: “You sure about that, Ol, Cobra? I mean maybe you just might not have been thorough enough in your research. Maybe check under your bed-”
Cobra: “Her brother ruled in her stead, but I found nothing of Lili. Only some letter passed down the generations.”
Gorosei: “Cobra, you seem a little pale. How about you go out for some fresh Mariejois air? It’s pure and unfiltered. Fills your lungs, and-”
Cobra: “And what’s up with the Will of D. anyway? And I’ve counted mentally those swords and it just don’t. Make. No. Sense! Why call them the 20 kingdoms and put the swords down, when nineteen, NINE-TEEN kingdoms agreed to live here?! *takes deep breath* Sorry. Anyway, you guys...might know...anything...about that stuff?”
*beat*
*Gorosei look at each other while the back door opens*
Cobra: “Wait, there was a back door?”
Gorosei: “Yeah, for the man of the house”
Cobra: “’Man of the house’? What ‘house’ are you talking abou-wait, who is that!? Why are you sitting on-oh, oh. Oh...Oh, shit.”
*beat*
Im: “LILI.”
Gorosei: “It’s like my man Jay said to people running their mouth...”
Saint Jaygarcia Saturn: “Watch the throne!”
*Gorosei laugh evilly whole Cobra watche in horror and shock at Im*
OP 1073 SPOILERS
Betting the other Elder’s are called the name of the other planets except for earth. So Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and, the now revealed Saturn. I’d say from Youngest to Oldest, since Saturn seems like the oldest of them. And now I’m betting on Uranus being Imu, since Urauns is the only Ancient Weapon to properly share a name with a planet. Thus being able to destroy completely destroy Lulusia (and God Valley probably).
➡𝐈𝐌-𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐀, 𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐔𝐒, 𝐒𝐍𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐍𝐒. a theory. ⚡ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ. ᴏᴘ ᴍᴀɴɢᴀ Sᴘᴏɪʟᴇʀs
So, since last week when ch. 1060 was released I've been thinking of something. As I adressed some days ago here. So... Many have said that Im’s weapon was something similar to a spaceship while I do not see that AT ALL. In my opinion that thing looks pretty much like a snake or a dragon. So, many people in the community thought -as well as I did- that that weapon can be no other than Uranus, right? And it makes a lot of sense that Im has an ancestral weapon since what could give them such power if not something that scary? How could they be the king of the world if they don’t have an extremely powerful tool so nobody can defeat them?
Ok, so, let’s say that that thing that destroyed Lulusia was no other than the third ancestral weapon, Uranus. Right? It would make so much sense since we know that Pluton (Ruler of Hell) is buried under Wano, Poseidon (God of the Seas) is Shirahoshi who can control the sea kings and Uranus is meant to be the God of Heavens (Zeus)… so, where should Uranus live if not in the sky? Then it would be logical to think that, that thing that sent 16 destructive (that number is hella important, too. But I will discuss it later) presumably rays from heaven to the earth is in fact Uranus.
Now, back to what Uranus might be: - Pluton is probably a machine since it has plans (those Franky burned and memorized during Ennies Lobby), - Shirahoshi, a person, is Poseidon. - What could Uranus be? Probably a creature. And… do you remember what Roger had on his ship when we saw the flashbacks of him getting to Laugh Tale? The damn EGG that we only saw but had 0 info about it. So, what kind of animals hatch from eggs? Birds, and reptiles. REPTILES…. Snakes… dragons… Oh, and do dragons fly?
ok so after debating it for awhile I've finally decided that Im will be in fact taking on the role of The Core in SoC.
One Piece Theory: The Treasure of Mary Geoise
The first time we hear about the existence of a treasure hidden in Mary Geoise is by Doflamingo,
“It’s because I know all about a crucial treasure… that exists within sacred Mary Goise!! And the very knowledge of its existence would shake the world to its foundations!! To them, I was the worst kind of fugitive… one with an ace up his sleeve! Once the Celestial Dragons realized they couldn’t kill me… they grew quite cooperative. If only I’d had the power of the op-op fruit in my grasp… On that specific day years ago… I would have been able to use of Marie Goise’ treasure to seize true world power!!!”
- Doflamingo, Chapter 761
We can garner, actually, quite a few things from Doflamingo’s speech. For starters, he calls it a “crucial” treasure. “Crucial” implies that whatever the treasure may be is, at the very least, very important (no duh!). However, “crucial” is a very particular word to choose. It alludes to a necessity – This treasure is imperative for the continuing success of something.
But for what?
