really interesting to me how characters who are very clearly autistic (taking things literally, flat tones and facial expressions, extreme social awkwardness, big meltdowns when they happen, etc.) are never headcanoned as such when other characters who are also very clearly autistic (understanding social cues well enough, hyperfixations, very friendly, etc.) are constantly headcanoned as such.
really interesting to see the difference in tags such as "oblivious character x" "character x is bad at feelings" "awkward character x" with about 13 pages of works with the tag "autistic character x". meanwhile there are 200 pages of works tagged "autistic character y" 99% of which have him written with "optimal" autistic traits or have him written basically neurotypical. less than half of the "autistic character x" treat him as a person with autonomy and less than 5 have him be a well-written main character without erasing his traits.
