I feel like Lauren and Joaquim should say something on this whole matter. This is their story and they should take some responsability over how its handled and interpreted. People are saying that Josh K threw us under the bus with his statement, but to me seems like he feels just like that too. This is getting confusing and their VA is being targeted, they should really make a statement.

Lauren and Joaquim have both openly stated they’re against antis before, but I mean like…“they should take some responsibility over how its handled and interpreted.” I…really don’t get what you mean by that. It’s not their fault that antis exit. And if you want them to take responsibility for how the story is interpreted–you…you don’t understand how antis are, do you? Take k/l for instance. Every time Joaquim and Lauren try to express that they don’t condone queerbaiting by explicitly stating k/l is never happening, antis will still twist their words in every other direction to “prove k/l is canon king” and that they’re just lying and manipulative. It’s quite clear that no matter what the showrunners say antis have their own vision and don’t know how to take “no” for an answer.

I can promise you Lauren and Joaquim are most definitely hurt by all of this. I can promise you they know how fucked up this fandom can be–Lauren literally expected to get harassed by antis after one of her interviews, that’s an actual thing she said. Joaquim and Josh have both made public apologies recently because of antis’ extremely hateful and abhorrently malicious behavior. Multiple people on the staff have told antis to stop harassing others before. It’s literally not their fault that these people won’t listen. Josh also edited his post to clarify he is in no way siding with antis there, and he completely condemns their behavior. 

I’m going to be completely honest, I’m not sure how managing PR stuff like this really works. I’m not sure what the protocol is. I can see Lauren and Joaquim wanting to say something about it though, and it’s very possible they’ll make another statement on the matter soon. At the very least, I like to think other members of the staff have reached out to Josh and helped give him some kind of support system through such a stressful time. But this is in no way Lauren and Joaquim’s fault. 

How antis “interpreted” the narrative isn’t their fault, and their abhorrent treatment of the staff and crew, including Lauren and Joaquim–especially Lauren–isn’t their fault. I’m not letting anyone else take the fall for antis here. Like, even just from the stuff I’ve heard and seen from the recent con–“fans” talking about how much they hate Lauren behind her back but then showing up to the con still demanding k/l and other content from her, like…it’s horrifying how they dehumanize these people and then still expect to have the showrunners cater to them specifically while spitting on their good name. I’m tired of it…
