To Emmy,

The birth of a person is always a happy occasion, and I’m always happy to celebrate a happy occasion, especially if it involves you! And as a present, here I am, blessing you with my magnificent (😉) presence. (Alec says that I sound extremely pompous, but do feel free to ignore him.)

I have noticed that it seems to be a tradition among mundanes to share happy thoughts and unsolicited advice on someone’s birthday, and as a 400 year old warlock with plenty of experience of the strange ways of life, I shall choose the better option and share happy thoughts with you. From what I’ve heard and seen, you are one of my biggest fans (obviously I approve), a wonderful artist (you always capture my best angles!) and an amazing (or should I say... em-azing) and highly lovable person (one of the best things a person can strive to be). I hope you’ll always spread sunshine wherever you go.

(A piece of unsolicited advice anyway - just because you’re getting older... doesn’t mean you should get older. Always keep that child inside you alive, like Peter Pan)

And the most important words to be shared this day - I wish you a very, very, happy birthday, Emmy. Alec wishes you the same. The kids say ‘Happy Birthday Yemmie’. (I hope the intent of their message is clear.)
