Im a fanfic writer and forever emo kid thats been blogging here since 2011. You will see on occassion posts about MCR/emo bandom and related fandom phenomena.

Currently I predominantly post about AMC's Interview The Vampire/The Vampire Lestat. But also Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles/Immortals Universe. This blog is not spoiler safe for any of the books or show so please take that into account.

This blog on occassion will also contain explicit content of various forms so that is why I stipulate not to interact if you are a minor. I don't heavily police this but generally do suss out blogs that follow me. Also please note that this blog is disability/sex/kink/lgbtqia+ positive. Terfs can fuck off.

I think it’s smart for IWTV stories to be told in non chronological order since it keeps us guessing at who is telling the truth, the lies, and everything in between. And in S3’s case, WTF happened…?

S1-2 primarily told Louis’ story in chronological order from his mortal life, his turning, his relationship with Lestat and Armand, and all his failures as a vampire and a father. Daniel changed that order when he interjected himself into the story since he had a past interaction with Louis and Armand. By challenging the validity of the story, it shuffled everything around.

S3 is told in reverse chronological order in which the future is already present with a mangled Louis and Armand along with Ragland James (or is he…?) and Lestat’s recordings telling what happened. But it’s not just about the band and Akasha. His entire life story is told in reverse chronological order starting with the future, his band days, his relationship with Louis, his relationship with Gabriella in his mortal life and later his immortal life, and his turning by Magnus that eventually led him to meet Armand. We would think he would speak about Magnus first, but we can arguably consider both his mortal and immortal birth to be interchangeable events in his life. Both were traumatic and both came from toxic and inappropriate relationships. Besides, without Magnus, there would be no Gabriella. It’s a strange circular relationship of events of who gave birth to whom.

This story telling is fucking gold.

what I fucking love is how tvl was written in the 80s and lestat is constantly sayinf shit like “as the kids say 🤪 that’s so rad!!” or whatever, and to me, reader of the vampire lestat in this modern age, that does NOT register the way anne rice intended it.

like it is supposed to feel jarring and insane. it is supposed to feel like lestat has been violently submerged in modern young people trends and culture and is now repeating all the new words he learned like a beautiful fresh baby. but because the book is from 1985, all I think is oh interesting huh I didn’t know that slang term even originated in the 80s how vintage how retro how lestat wow he’s so embarrassing aw aw so cute.

but amc in all their incredible genius decided that honoring anne rice’s original vision of writing an extremely modern and weird book that fully embodied the era it was written in was more important then bringing back the 80s nostalgia thing that streaming services love and it’s incredible to me. now I get to listen to lestat say shit like “labubu FOMO cosplay reddit discord Gen Z more like gen SNOOZE 🤪🤪🤪 safe space pronouns donald trump labubu tiktok dance 🕺🏻” and suddenly I understand what it felt like to be a young anne rice reader in 1985. God…. I understand.
