“GREAT BLUE HERON AND LITTLE BLUE HERON”
Hitnes
As part of his 15-State reenactment of J.J. Audubon’s quest, painting large-scale avian murals in the Southern states where Audubon observed and painted birds for his 435-plate masterpiece Birds of America Hitnes stopped in New Orleans to paint two pieces. This one is at Ecole Bilingue on General Pershing St. just steps from the trendy shops and eateries of Magazine St. Italian artist Hitnes grew up in a family of scientists and has long been interested in biology and the natural world, but has always found his true inspiration from art—making him a natural choice to team up with the Audubon Society for this project which is also being filmed for a 2017 documentary The Image Hunter. Ecole Bilingue began in 1998 as a full-immersion French preschool with just 16 students. Today they lay claim to being one of the finest French-immersion schools in the U.S. with 220 students from pre-school through eighth grade. @hitnesio @the.imagehunter @audubonsociety @ecole_bilingue_nola
