While a letter writer in the December 1987 issue of Family & Home Office Computing suggested Apple ought to make an Apple II laptop if it knew what was good for it and Michael Crichton wished for a “ten-pound portable Mac” in the issue’s “celebrity comments” special article, Apple did include an ad promoting its now low-end (if still not that “cheap”) Macintosh for use in a(n apparently quite well-heeled) home office.
